Default Another GS Exhaust Question Thread

Hey all, happy new year

I want to make some modifications to my '13 BASE RWD GS350. My only goals are:
  • Toanlity
  • Deep & Sophisticated sounding Exhaust
I don't want a Drone/Tinny sounding exhaust (or blow out people's eardrums as I drive by). My question is if I go with the Apexi MidPipe setup and leave the stock OEM mufflers. Will that get me what I'm looking for ? It hard to find parts as it is in Toronto and the pandemic has just made everything crazy expensive so skipping the Axle back should save me money. Just wanted people with experience to chime in. I am a total car modfication noob but I am DIY inclined.

Also what about headers ? Will adding Header/Midpipe and leaving OEM mufflers on make a difference ? My Understanding is that with headers, catalytic converters will have to be chopped off. Is it worth it for the goals I am trying to achieve ?

Thanks!

Skip the headers, that will make the biggest difference. Changing the axle back to a Borla is a popular option we have.

We have deals on the Apexi midpipes right now but they're $1300 compared to a Borla at like $900.

I am actually interested in the same info, but it looks like these sorts of upgrades aren't too prevalent, thus info is hard to come by.
My main complaint is, when you drive it in manual mode, and the RPMs are around 3000, there is this annoying buzzing sound from the drivetrain, which I would love to have replaced with something more sporty.
Otherwise, when you accelerate past 4000 RPM the stock exhaust does have a pleasant note to it.

There is a bunch of exhaust options out there, for around $1K, but who knows how they actually sound. The last thing I want is an annoying, obnoxious loud exhaust.
