I was forced to use 255/40/19 conti DWS in the rear as my wife popped the 265/35/19 as3+ (spare new tires for another car) and let me tell you the ride got so much more comfortable and it doesn’t look too funky haha

I had Conti DWS for about 6 months on my second GTO. They were surprisingly good in the snow and surprisingly bad in the corners. They never broke in. The sidewalls were so soft, even with an additional 4psi in each tire, my steering response was completely gone. The car would lean over twice in a corner before taking a set, and good luck making mid-corner adjustments. The closest thing I could compare them to is the Nokian studded snows on my Mustang - Like driving on 70s bias plys.

I hated them. I'll never buy Contis again.

What do you think of them now that you've had them for awhile? Are they good in the snow?

Hello from Australia

1 - Anyone replaced the factory tyres (235 45 R18) with (235 50 R18)? Does it really make a difference?
Reason for asking is I am interested in Michelin Primacy 4 ST which is only available in 235 50 R18 while Michelin Primacy 4 is available for 235 45 R18. Looks like the ST model is more quiet compare to none ST
2- The factory spec for tyre pressure reads 230 kPa (33.36 PSI) for 235 45R18, dealership has set them to 270 kPa (39.16 PSI) after service and when I asked why they replied 230 kPa is too low! Any thoughts on this?

Cheers

Default Michelin defender 2

Just had a set of Michelin defender 2 installed by Costco yesterday. Drove 150 miles this morning and they’re definitely quieter and smoother than the Goodyears I removed. I’ll report back after some time with an update.

Agree 100% with @bclexus re Pirelli tires - very impressed and pleased with the model he suggests.

I'd keep them at 39 PSI, if you feel like the ride is comfortable. These cars are prone to outer tire wear. Running a higher PSI will get some more wear on the center part of the tire.

If you are worried about the tire integrity Tesla calls for 42 PSI on a much heavier car and there are millions of Teslas on the road without issues. Only con is the ride might be a tad bit stiffer.

After going with Pilot Sport AS 4’s on my previous F Sport RWD (245/40/19 / 285/35/19) I’m likely going with Pirelli’s or Continental’s in the future when it comes to the Performance All Season category.

The Michelins were loud, wore quickly, and were pricier than the competition. I also got poor MPG as they have a fairly high rolling resistance.

I think I fell for the Michelin hype. P Zero AS Plus 3, P7 AS Plus 3, or the DWS 06 Plus will be next for me. I’ve heard great things about Pirelli’s and their comfort and minimal road noise so I’m definitely leaning that way.

The best thing going right now other than the Pirelli P7 Cinturato All Season Plus 3, is the Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S+, for the 19" tires. The Yok handles like crazy on the GS, is very quite, last a long time also.

I’m lovin mine so far but no long trips yet. Never hear them either. I couldn’t stand a noisy tire.
