Hi today i have started my car for little at 7 degrees, when i started the car extremely / harsh noise i heard i dont have option to record it..... can it be because its so cold and i am using engine oil 5w 30 amsoil?
After that i have shutted down the car immidiately , after i started it again no noise have been heard, keep in mind car have not been started for weeks....
my suspection is because its cold oil doesnt lubricate well or i am having worn timing chain gear or something else, only in extremely cold engine i hear this, noise is very harsh and extremely noisey i will try to record video in the coming days or weeks if i hear it again....

car is 450h gs 4th gen year 2012 engine was running when car started so its not the hybrid system.

i will try to make a video or record it soon, my noise is long harsh and horrible noise its like timing/chain or gear.... is broken or not enough lubrication.


Hello car is hybrid it doesnt have alternator,
or starter, and battery is brand new agm gel battery in the trunk...

 

My non hybrid GS350 F Sport with under 49,000 miles on it takes 0-20w and has Mobil One in it. My winter temps drop below freezing but not that low and I hear no abnormal noise on start up. Amsoil is good stuff as I’ve used it in all my motorcycles for years with great results. Maybe try 0-20w? Oh, you didn't mention your mileage.

 

Hybrid engine for 450h is little bit different compared to gs350 there is a whole hybrid system,

car is 200.000miles but probably little more since i am not the first owner and there are some things which i dont know about the car like accidents real mileage etcs..
Yes i also use amsoil for my other cars i use signature series, since i like its in the lexus manual is written that if i live in cold area i can use 5w 30 as well.. i dont like 0w 20 oil i use it on my other newer cars but for me its crap.

 

Here is not very cold, so i dont manage to record the exact noise but i have some noise in the begining is this normal noise it stops after few seconds please watch my small cool video.

Please advice after you watch and hear my cool video the strange noise is in the begining is it worn chain or something else,
when weather becames 0 or minus i will make another video hopefully the worst noise will be heard again..

Sorry i am having issues with all these computer related things they are very complex.
They changed i-net all the time it was easy when i was young 30 years ago or 20, now its so much complex i understand on that site i cant change privacy on my videos so i have uploaded and tested over other web site please check it out again i hope it works now.
i cant upload over youtube because video is short and youtube makes my video even worse , they make it short ,so all these things makes my life hard but i found a solution for all.


i already tried this in private window browser without even an account so it works all the time and its not private really sorry about last one they make sites worse than 30 years ago.

in the first 10 seconds there is some noise which is gone after that i guess that noise is normal or not ?


so far i dont manage to reproduce old harsh noise but i will keep trying i am pretty sure as soon as weather goes to minus or at 0 noise will come again.

 

I couldn't really hear anything either, phones are not really good for recording sounds like engines or exhaust.

 

in the begining there is a 5-10 seconds sound i am using smartphone for recording video i was thinking sound is great , sound can be differentiate in the begining because after 5-10 seconds is gone...
With what i can record i only have my phone?
No camera or something else. The problem is video is compressed,
when i upload it over these websites i will try to upload the video so you need to download it in full original quality not compressed junky quality.

Sounds like every other gs450h. Cold start = slightly higher RPM + initial direct (or combined) injection. ~10sec after the start - revs drop, the DI system stops being used as well. If you let it "idle" for awhile longer (say, turn heating to maximum), the engine will use DI noticeably again once it starts charging the battery.

Anyways, no issues whatsoever.

 

i will try to record the extremely harsh noise, when i hear it back again, battery have some juice inside hybrid battery i mean.

So about that noise currently based into the noise timing chain and gears are not for replacement yet, when its time for these will i receive check engine light or some other symptoms ?

Harsh noise was very long and horrible,can it be related that car has not been started for 4-5 weeks?
