Default Replacement battery size

For anyone who has replaced your battery, what size did you get? Part store websites suggest group 24F but its not clear those will fit the battery housing on the GS 350. I normally replace batteries myself but this is the first car I've seen with a housing around the battery. Thanks for your help.

You're overthinking this; buy the recommended battery size, it'll fit. Just make sure the positive/negative posts are on the correct sides.

Thanks for the reply! You are probably right, but when I measure the OEM battery it doesn't seem to line up with any of the aftermarket sizes. Most of the auto stores say its a 24F, but when I called Costco they said it needs a regular 24, not 24 F, and they don't carry it. Haven't been able to find a store that does. And the dealer wants 179 for a battery with just 2 year replacement (prorated after that up to 7 years). A 24F at Sams is just 109.
Most likely I'll end up with the dealer battery but was just looking for less expensive options with better warranty.
Again, thanks for the help.

You should get the recommended size and you can always modify the plastic housing or potentially leave it off if its a headache and doesn't work with the shape of the aftermarket battery you buy.

Here's a helpful thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-gs-350-a.html

Also: Lexus dealers seem to change batteries without rip-off pricing so there's the option of going to your dealer to get a quote. Shouldn't be more than $250 - $275 to get an OEM battery and have them install it. The 4GS Lexus battery is usually around $150.

If you get the one at at the dealer for $179, it's a bargain. Local store are $199 for batteries in that range
