Default 2016 GS 350 - Tag light out

Both tag lights are out on my car. The fact that these things are hard to get to leads me to believe this isn't a common problem and I'm not even seeing repair videos online.

Is it possible the lights themselves aren't bad but maybe a bad fuse? Thanks for any help.

@Joncone you might be the first with their license plate lights burning out on the 4GS - they are LED built into the circuit board as far as I remember (there isn't a bulb you can remove/switch). It could be a fuse i'm not sure (i'm leaning toward a failing LED though).

There is an aftermarket option to replace: https://store.ijdmtoy.com/products/o...32677628215399

Lexus OEM: https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...bly-8127053030

Here is a helpful write-up on replacing the bulb/housing with those aftermarket ones from iJDMToy: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...arket-led.html

Yeah, first time I heard this light went out. LEDs usually last a long time. Just get OEM since they're not that much anyway.

Unlikely two led lights go out at the same time. Check harness and fuse.

Follow up to this thread.

This is my wife's car that we have had a couple of years now and until she got pulled last week, we had no idea the license plate lights weren't working.

So I removed the trunk lining and found... The lights were unplugged. Why the previous owner did this, I can only guess but it's two plugs so no way it was done by accident.

Anyway now I know why I couldn't find YouTube videos for light replacement because it probably is never needed.

Yep. As I have guessed.

Was your car in an accident and the repairer forgot to plug the lights back in.
