Default 2014 headlight issue

so i picked up a 2014 lexus gs350 last week. everything sounded good. except. i forgot to check the headlight. also when i took the car to get wash, the sunroof started leaking a small amount. it looks like the sunroof doesnt completely shut from the inside. but when i look from outside it looks flush. and the second isse, my passenger side low beam was off. i took off the ballast. when i turn on the headlight it turned on and then dimmmed off wihtin a few sceonds. so i got a aftermarket ballast from ebay, installed it, the light stays on however its not near as bright as the driver side. Do you think the bulb is different than the driver side or is the ballast a cheap aftermarket quality?

Congrats on the new car. To rule out the ballast and/or bulb issue, swap from one side to the other to see if you get the same result. Even if the bulbs are actually the same, one may have just been replaced prior to you purchasing and thus will be brighter compared to how old the other bulb is.

thanks. it the bulb is dimmer on the other side it would be the bulb. but if the bulb is brighter on the other side then its the ballast, right?
