Did you check to see if your valet button in the glove box is clicked on? I remember something similar happening with the trunk and it wouldn't open cause of that.

Yeah, tried it and had no luck. Took it to a random mechanic and he couldn't get it open either. He said I might need to take it to a body shop instead (there is no body damage).

WD-40 isn't a good lubricant for long term. I'd use something like a graphite spray. I've also used lithium spray grease if I can get the nozzle pointed in the right spot. It makes a mess if you miss.

You can trip the trunk lock closed with the trunk open using a screwdriver. Then, press the key fob button to see what happens. I'd try to get the pull cord working as well. That's needed in any case.
