Did you check to see if your valet button in the glove box is clicked on? I remember something similar happening with the trunk and it wouldn't open cause of that.
Yeah, tried it and had no luck. Took it to a random mechanic and he couldn't get it open either. He said I might need to take it to a body shop instead (there is no body damage).
After messing with it for a while, I got it to open. Out of anger, sat in the car, turned it on and clicked the open trunk button inside the car like 10 times and it randomly opened. Tried some WD-40 and it opened and closed fine like 10 times. Randomly tried again later to open normally, and no luck. Redid the same steps and opened from the inside multiple times and randomly opened again. Really odd as the problem is inconsistent.
WD-40 isn't a good lubricant for long term. I'd use something like a graphite spray. I've also used lithium spray grease if I can get the nozzle pointed in the right spot. It makes a mess if you miss.
You can trip the trunk lock closed with the trunk open using a screwdriver. Then, press the key fob button to see what happens. I'd try to get the pull cord working as well. That's needed in any case.
