Anyone rolling the dice and using regula gas?
I closely compared premium vs. regular over the course of 6mos. I found that with regular I got about 0.7mpg and 20-30miles less per fillup than with premium, and a bit less performance. I concluded it wasn’t worth the $3-5 savings and have stuck with premium since.
Nah man..no way. I'm not messing with a car I paid this much money for just to save $10 at the pump. That logic is not my thing at all but to each is own. You are doing right sticking with premium. I'd rather go with what the actual automotive engineers thought was best for the machine lol

Why?
Im not even using premium in my Dodge Viper because there’s no benefit to it.
Now people will argue against me with theoretical facts but tell me, do you feel any difference other than in the wallet? If you say yes then it’s 100% hallucination.
Absolutely no need for it at all.

My wife will mix 87 and 93 to try and obtain a 90-91 level in the 2011 Acura RDX she drives (original Honda turbo in the US). Since she drives like a grandma, I do not see much risk in her flooring it at a stop light and causing premature ignition. Now for me, with the non-turbo GS 450h, since I fill up once per month, I 90% of the time will use Costco 93 premium. I think twice, I used the 87 for like 5 gallons to top it off, so maybe it went down to a 91 Octane level. The price difference was approx. $0.50 per gallon, so I figured $2.50 in my pocket, was $2.50 that was not in my pocket. But with the 4% gas rebate, I only saved $2.40……
I filled up today it it was 3.95 for Costco premium, this is getting ridiculously expensive, I'm going to try to find some cheaper gas stations. I went at 7:15am and the lines were already 2 cars deep (normally empty at this time), so need to find a better gas station with no lines.
Zero benefit. Absolutely ridiculous that your would, in any way, harm the motor on 91. 87 I don’t know as I didn’t think gas that poor even existed anymore.
Relax. Who said harm? Nice try though. lol!
BTW: depending on your KCLV that your car is running currently, some VP 110 could actually improve your MPG. But you know that your KCLV is high right now and, that it would not right? Because you can tell me what you value is right?
For the vast majority of the people driving (cars that "require" premium), their cars won't know the difference between grades.
If you're the minority who is going wot on a regular basis, has a specific tune for higher octane, or have a lot of bolt-ons then using premium is the way.
If you're regularly on the highway in cruise control, always in eco mode, or sitting in stop & go traffic all day then there's no benefit to the higher octane - the car isn't getting sustained chances to utilize the benefits.
Look at all of the older Lexus vehicles on the road... then ask yourself if that 3rd, 4th, 5th owner is using premium. Highly doubt it!
At the end of the day - it's really just up to the owner
