Post Tire Sizes: 245/45/18 on 2015 GS350 AWD?

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased my first Lexus, a 2015 GS350—L/Certified at 36,000 miles. It's pristine and amazing and I love it very much! The dealership put a set of unremarkable Goodyear tires on the car, and I'd like to swap them out for a set of Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S Plus II. The tires that are currently on the car are 235/45/18, but I thought I'd try 245/45/18. From what I've read, the increased sidewall height (and the P7s) will help reduce road noise.

Questions:
  • Is anyone running 245/45/18's on their 4th generation GS350? Will you continue to stay with this size?
  • Any rubbing when the wheels are turned?
  • Do the 245's look good on the vehicle? If you're running this size, can you post a picture?
  • Have you noticed an improvement in comfort or reduction in road noise?
  • Any notable differences (good or bad) in day-to-day daily driving and handling?
  • Any reason not to make this change?

I did some digging on the forums and found many users who recommended the increased size—for the ES and not necessarily the GS—so I didn't get a strong sense that this was a common change to make on these vehicles. It's worth noting that the road noise is very minimal on smooth pavement, but as soon as you hit that rough highway pavement, it gets considerably louder.

I'd be grateful for any and all comments and insights if you've been driving with 245's on the GS!

@GS47 Congrats on the new ride! Looks very clean

Lots of members with 245 on their stock wheels. It will be slightly wider overall and will look better on the RWD biased GS. I was going to buy 245 series tires earlier this year but got a great online deal from discount tire direct for the 235 tires I was previously running.

Here is a pic from another thread where a fellow member upgraded their 235 tire to a 245 on 19" OEM wheels: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ml#post9807702

Thank you! These photos are helpful indeed. I might just go with the P7's and keep the stock size—the larger tire doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look quite rightto my eye. I've only had the car for a few weeks, wouldn't hurt to live with the stock size and build some intuition on the ride before switching to a new tire size.

Yes, I ran 245/45R18 Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S tires on my GS 350 for years and really like them. I'll replace the OE Michelin tires on my GS 450h with the Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S Plus II tires when the time comes.

Questions:
  • Is anyone running 245/45/18's on their 4th generation GS350? Will you continue to stay with this size?
Yes I have 245/45/18 and yes will stick with this size.
  • Any rubbing when the wheels are turned?
No rubbing at all.
  • Do the 245's look good on the vehicle? If you're running this size, can you post a picture?
Yes looks good and slightly reduces the fender gap.
  • Have you noticed an improvement in comfort or reduction in road noise?
Yes
  • Any notable differences (good or bad) in day-to-day daily driving and handling?
Your speedometer will be off 1 MPH at 80, so when it says 80 your going 81.
  • Any reason not to make this change?
Do it, if you want slightly better ride comfort and more protection against potholes.
