Buying another GS
#16
Former 2014 GS-Fsport owner here. Earlier this year I was in the market for a new (used) vehicle after experiencing some issues with my GS> I took advantage of this market and was able to get a pretty penny for my 2014. I test drove many vehicles, to include a 2020 blue ES350 with red leather and ML. It was a beautiful looking vehicle, but I hated the way it drove, and the base stereo system in my GS sounded better than the ML in that ES. I say test drive the car, you may or may not like it, but to me, it was inferior to my older GS. In the end, I ended up purchasing a Tesla Model S, lol.

I think the ES250 would be a let down, and that a fwd ES350 would be better. I like the Stinger idea above and also a certified BMW 530 which should be about the same price.
I think you’ll be surprised how cheap a Q50 feels after driving a Lexus. On paper it looks like a great option but I didn’t even take it off the lot for a test drive when I looked at one last year.

Out of all these cars we're speaking of, hats off to the GS. Stinger looks nice but I rather be in something else. I'm actually driving an older 530i right now that I can't exactly punch and drive hard due to its age although it has under 100k miles on it. The new ones do look nice but I prefer the nav screen of the GS rather than a tablet like pop out standing still. I do feel after owning a GS an ES, a tlx and q50 is a step down not so much the new 5 series. The E class is nice too but I believe the price jumps with v6. I'm thinking a 2018 or newer likely would be reasonable as a purchase. I'm looking for the safety features such as blind spot, break assist and lankr keep assist as a must. I'm not a track guy but do like the sporty and luxury feel of the GS. Oh why did they have to discontinue it???

i agree. I had an ES 350 F Sport loaner for two days. The GS is a significantly better car in every respect. The GS is a next class up - more luxurious, better appointed and better built - and is rear wheel drive.

Even caranddriver agrees
”The vast majority of ES sales are of the V-6–powered ES350 model. But we wonder why more customers don’t opt for the ES300h hybrid, which strikes us as the purest expression of ES virtue. After all, the V-6’s 268 horsepower makes for surprisingly brisk acceleration, which seems at odds with the car’s relaxed demeanor. The quieter, slower, and more efficient hybrid expresses the ES ethos to a T, slowing your pulse while simultaneously elevating your green cred with its lofty 40-mpg EPA ratings (more on those numbers later).”

As a former track driver, canyon junkie, 19 cars many heavily modified, i think the whole OMG FWD NO I CAN'T GUY PROPERLY is overblown, particularly when it comes to the new TNGA chassis which handles extremely well. Well-engineered FWD is just fine for dudes, especially if you're over the age of 30. We spend time commuting, not drifting everywhere. If you want another GS, great. Great car. But since you're considering an ES, read on to someone who's now owned two 2021s.
