Best phone mount to attach to shapeways mount?
#3
The most important factor is the strength of the magnet on the mount, I have an XS Max. The mount I use does not seem to be available anymore but I can vouch for the 3M adhesive... 3 years strong.
I use this one in my Sequioa, and the magnet is strong.

Very timely phone mount post. I am moving from my XS Max to an iPhone 13 Pro Max and wanted to utilize a Magsafe mount. Has anyone found a mount that works?
My plan is to combine these two... the disc is large, and white, so I'm planning to wrap it in vinyl, probably black, red or carbon fiber. Using the base of the first adhered to the Shapeways, along with the upper portion of the second mount.

Good info. I am waiting on the Shapeway mount to be delivered to me. In my post above I posted the same mount 2'xs. I meant to post this one as the 2nd one. I received them both today.
So can you tell me about the mount and wireless disk setup you posted above. Which is that? The only problem is our Kia it has wireless, and I have another wireless charger for my iphone XS and it makes the phone very hot and does not really charge that fast.

Did some digging and found your thread on the Shapeways. This is a cool product, I like that there’s no drilling or adhesive involved. How do you guys feel about the small gap it creates between the dash and the trim piece? It looks kinda big in the photo but maybe not so noticeable in person.
Thinking about picking this up and rigging up a MagSafe charger for my iPhone 12 mini.

The gap looks bigger in the pic that it actually is, and it can't be seen from the driver's seat anyway, and barely noticable from the passenger side... absolutely a non-factor.

@peasodos Not too ugly, and it's positioned perfctly for those of us without a Carplay option.
@CottageChz Haven't used my Magsafe puck yet becasue of the white cable. Been using this option instead. The base of the first, with a similar plate connector from the middle pic, adhered to the puck, gives me my current solution.

@chinee or anyone else that has the shapeways mount, I can’t find anywhere the specs of those mounting holes that are on the face of the shapeways product, Im of the understanding that those holes are to add more mounting options and I’m wondering if an AMPS Mount would line up perfectly. Would this product would bolt right in?
