Default Car sold to Carmax

Welp, here it is...hopefully the vehicle will go to a good home - https://www.carmax.com/car/21215161. Im thankful for all the advice ive received from these boards over the years, and i plan to stick around.
Can someone explain to me 1. how carmax is able to sell this vehicle as a single ownwer vehicle? I bought it used with 28k on the odometer. My second question is, is it a normal business practice for dealerships to share an autoreport that has a clean history? Carmax has a clean autocheck on the site, but my carfax has the accurate history with one "accident" (someone in a pickup backed into my bumper in a parkinglot). So whomever purchases this vehicle will think they are getting a vehicle with no accident history, and one owner.

it doesn't sound good. i would only trust carfax, even that is not 100%. i would only buy CPO, even that option does not cover 100% bumper to bumper.

buyer be ware.

it sounds shady to me.

Very nice condition for 114k miles. Did they need to recondition the vehicle or looks like you took really great care!
Curious - what did you trade in in for, if you don' mind sharing?

Thanks VA. I ttry my best to ake great care of my vehicles. The only thing i think carmax did before putting it on their lot was remove the tint.

Experian Auto Check seems to get information from Police and Insurance reports while
CarFax seems to get most entries from Shops and State Registration data. Best of course
to get both but it would follow that minor (no police report) parking lot scuff might get missed.

I noticed that Carmax tends to use AutoCheck which I'm not personally fond of using. I agree that no history report is ever fully accurate, but a combination of Carfax and AutoCheck along with any history known/disclosed by the dealer are the only ways to be sure. Someone will certainly buy that car without getting the full scope of its history.

Congrats on the Model S! Sorry to see you leave the GS family, but Carmax i'm sure gave you a pretty decent amount when they bought it from you.

Thanks AJ. I really wanted to keep the car long term, but i was begiinng to experience issues and couldnt get any answers from my mechanic or the dealership as to what was causing the issues. If whomever purchases the car can circumvent the issue i experienced, then they will have a nice car on their hands. I recently changed all fluids, new brakes and rotors for front and rear, brand new facotry rims that are 2yrs old, new seal for the sunroof, and brand new bumper from that parkinglot incident i mentioned. I did not drive the car like a granny, but i did take care of it. Oh, I also had the driver's side door painted by the local Lexus dealership because they scratched the door pretty bad when i had it in for service one day. I hope the new owner joins these boards.

Whoever repaired the bumper did a good job, or Carmax took excellent pictures.

Even cars with minor accidents pass Lexus CPO. I have heard of several examples on this forum, so CPO doesn't mean a perfectly clean history, just passes Lexus CPO standard/test.

Hey car is not your problem and you got your money! Issues? I'm at 115k and zero issues on my 2013 GSh.

Youre right Peasodos. The car is no longer my problem, but I do wish the new owner well.
