Recirculation Flap
I searched, found certain threads about this but couldn't find one specific to this issue.
When i checked behind the glovebox, i see that there are two flaps that open and close when you press the circulation button. I see that only one of them if fully closing and the other one is remaining half open; this was not the case before because going into tunnels was never an issue but now when i go into tunnels there is overwhelming smell of fumes and i get dizzy.
Anyone have a hack (other than breaking the automated open/close level and screwing them closed) that has worked, or is there an easy way to fix it other than the 2k replacement (remove dash, remove airbag, remove whole assembly, replace motor and mechanism)?

are you sure there's nothing jamming the other flap or blocking the flap from moving all the way to the closed position when you hit recirculation mode? sometimes debri can cause that to happen. if theres nothing blocking or jamming it when its closing then i would suspect the linkage or gear on the housing is bad because both those flap doors operate off the same actuator motor. if one's closing and not the other then you would need to see whats causing it to bind up.
