Default Brake Dust + TPMS

I just bought new wheels and can't wait to install BUT, I need to solve two issues:

1 - What brake pads do you guys recommend to reduce the dust on the dust on the front? It seems like I clean them and going to the grocery store once restores the thick layer of dust I just removed. They're the OEM pads and rotors now. If I get the new wheels ceramic coated, is it really just a "rinse and they're clean" kind of operation?

2 - My last set of wheels was before TPMS... so what do I do now? Will DiscountTire install the new tires with new TPMS? Should I go to Lexus for installation?

Thanks for the help!

Car Quest Wear Ever Platinum is what I have on the front of my 18. I put them on in November of 17 when I bought the car new, couldn't be happier with the pads. Dust is nowhere near an issue vs. the original pads. I'd buy them again.

There's a ton of pads that will reduce the dust...basically anything but OEM lol. Akebono Ceramics are what I've used on a few cars with great results, just recently put some PowerStop Carbon Fiber/Ceramic pads on my IS with zero dust as well.

For the TPMS, you have a few options.
1: remove the sensors from your original wheels and have them installed in the new wheels. You'll be charged for a few tpms kits of the bull**** hardware they need but just toss out.
2: buy new sensors to put in the new wheels. You'll have to get the codes of the sensors put into your car or else the pressure light will come on. Easiest to go to the dealer for this - but good practice to write down the codes prior to the sensors being installed.
3: don't get any sensors any live with the light
4: don't get any sensors and put the old tpms sensors in your glove box to keep the light off

Discount Tire will sell you new TPMS if you need them or install ones you bring in. Last time I had some TPMS die I found OEM ones on Amazon that were half the price of buying them at the dealer. I brought them to Discount and had them swap out the bad ones.

Second that on the Akebono pads best choice..
But your option 4 wont work unless your glovebox is sealed and pressurized to 35 psi..hence when the tire starts losing air and psi drops the light go off.

Okay great - I'll get some new pads.

For TPMS, it looks like I can just buy these and bring them to DiscountTire, yes?
Amazon Amazon

I'm keeping my stock wheels and tires, so I can't reuse the TPMS in there. I mean, I could have them switch out the sensors with regular stems, but that seems like silly work. ALSO, if I have the OEM wheels in the garage, is the car going to read 8 sensors?

No you should be good.. the second set of wheels would have to be on the car to sense..On my other car I switched out to aftermaket wheels without sensors and left the OEM wheels with the sensors in the garage and the car never detected them

Awesome, thank you.

So will the sensors I posted from Amazon do the trick?

I'll add them to my cart with my Akebono pads and checkout.

Edit: tried to find the right pads on Amazon and there are too many options. When I narrowed it down to what looks like the right part number (ACT1118) I read that they make noise at low speeds. So that's out.

I love the Discount Tire/America's Best Tire chain. They do good work, have competitive pricing and are always pretty helpful. I would suggest that you call your local franchise first before purchasing TPMS sensors online as my local Discount Tire informed me that even though they were happy to install sensors that I provided, that the programming tool they used only worked with certain sensor brands.

I swapped to the Akebonos (ACT118) when I had about 3k miles on the car and have never experienced any low speed noise or any noise when coming to a stop..I have about 29K on the car now and still no noise but I guess everyone's experience is different with these pads. The only noise/squeal I get is in the morning when backing out of my garage or after a wash but only in reverse and it did that with the OEM pads too.
