What is this ugly looking thing on the front grill? Is it some sort of a sensor?

thanks

Definitely not stock. Does it have any wires or anything connected to it? Almost looks like a deer whistle or something to that effect.

not sure but it’s on there pretty solid like its bolted on. Doesn’t even wiggle.

Looks like an engine block heater plug if it's a wire.

I'm sticking with a deer whistle.

It's just double sided taped on. It could be relocated to a more aesthetically pleasing spot, like lower on the grill in the center.

Alright pulled it off. Thinking about putting on top of the license plate frame.

Left some tape on the grille. Oops

It has a lot of positive amazon reviews claiming it works.

I've never seen this specific model - it actually looks nicer and more discreet than the early ones from 25-30 years ago. Those were definitely ugly and harder to hide.

From what I understand, they do help.

Speaking first hand (x2 - I was not driving either time) - I would definitely not want to hit a deer in a modern car at any sort of decent speed.

Remember when every crown vic and caprice had two giant deer whistles on the front bumper?
And tons had 'The Club'?
And those ridiculous neon plastic hood spoilers?

All gone. Why did they come? Why did they go?
It's like trying to understand fashion.

It does work. It generates a high pitch noise, as you drive, that the human ear cannot pick up.
