Default Whistling sound while A/C is on

hey CL, for my 2016 GS350, recently ive been getting this whistling sound when I am at 65+ MPH. However I only hear it when recirculation is on, the moment I click for fresh air to come in, the sound is gone. Is it possible its a vent not closing completely? I also cleared out any leaves in the hood/intake area and changed the air filter yesterday with an original one from the dealer.

Any advice would be great thanks!

Hope it's still under warranty... get the servo motors checked. Some models and years, these have been a point of failure, definitely on the IS and GS, very small failure rate but enough to get mentioned and a pattern to emerge.
See this thread... AC not Working

Thanks Chinee, i was looking over the certified vehicle warranty and saw that it says :
The L/Certified Limited Warranty* includes coverage for a complimentary loaner car,* Roadside Assistance* and Trip Interruption Service.* Warranty is valid for a minimum of two years/unlimited mileage after the expiration of 4-year/50,000 mile new-vehicle Basic Warranty, or two years from your L/Certified purchase or lease date, whichever occurs later. Mileage is unlimited. There is no deductible: Repairs made under this warranty will be made at no cost to you. Except for excluded components (see below), this warranty covers any repair or replacement of components that fail under normal use due to a defect in materials or workmanship, such as: engine, transmission, steering, brakes (excluding rotors and pads), fuel system, cooling, A/C and heating systems, electrical, and restraint systems.

I also think i have a bad wheel bearing so ill get that checked as well.

My wife has a CPO on the ES and they have repaired her car using the CPO without any cost from her. My '16 GS CPO, they did charge a diagnosis fee the 1st time I was there though. That's my CPO experience. Good Luck.

Hi shadowx,

Did you ever figure out what was wrong here? I’m having the exact same issue and have many trips to the dealership to no avail. Exact same whistle too

np! Hood this solves your problem. Couple weeks ago I lifted my wipers up to the snow position so it was easier to change the blades and forgot to push it back down. Drove it a couple days, heard the whistling and noticed my blades were higher than normal, pushed back down when got home no more noise.

Also in another thread, I posted this rattling noise I had when driving that came from center of car, after leaving it at the dealer for almost two weeks they changed the moon roof and then actually took apart the center console. After removing that, the tech was able to find the issue, here’s what the repair invoice said

FOUND HEATER CORE CLAMP FOR ALUMINUM LINES WAS RATTLING DUE TO LOOSNESS. WAS ABLE TO REMOVE CLAMP AND APPLY FELT. INSTALLED FELTED CLAMP AND REINSTALLED DASH COMPONENTS REMOVED. ROAD TESTED VEHICLE. SOUND NO LONGER PRESENT AT THIS TIME.
