The strain on the motor is really only an issue when it's slowly crushing the person behind you.

I turned mine off so don't remember, does the seat move back when you open the door with the engine on? I don't think it does but can't remember.

I sometimes want to get out of the car with the engine running and it's a tight squeeze with the wheel close to my legs and I've scratched the leather on my wheel several times with my knife pocket clip in my right pocket as I got out. Now when I do it I'm trying to remember to remove my knife before I exit but it'd be nice to have the seat move back.

It is very nice, feels luxurious, especially when the thigh extender and side bolsters hug u automatically.

As for having the seat move back when the engine is running, I use the Preset #3 for that. Set everything to a specific position and save it to memory.

If the motors do decide to go bad, anyone know the price to replace them?

It's probably expensive to replace. I love this feature though. Funny thing is that my 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring had them also but not a luxury car.

I love this feature on my GS. One of my previous cars was a new 2016 BMW 328i M Sport that I leased. It was a fully loaded mid $50s model and I was shocked to learn that no 3 series, no matter how expensive, had the easy exit feature. There were a lot of things on that car that were notoriously missing or altogether unavailable given the price.

I don't think it can be turned off.

I think it’s a stupid feature with no disregard for what’s behind the drivers seat.

I think it can be turned off with techstream only. There is a thread about disassembling the dash and you can use techstream to extend it with the car off so dash and instrument panel items can be removed.

Mine only does it when the drivers seatbelt is removed.

eg: if i put the car in park, and turned the car off, my seat wouldnt go back. but as soon as i pop the seatbelt off, it starts doing its thing. maybe this is enough time for your rear passenger to get out?

normally the driver exits first before passengers. Or driver gets out to help others getting out.

I think it starts retracting backwards when the car is off and the driver takes off the seat belt. You have to remember to keep your seat belt on until the rear passenger exits the car. Otherwise the seat will retract half or fully with no mercy. I've had this feature disabled for a while now.

yep, that’s why it’s the first thing I disabled on both cars. Rx and GS.
