Default TPMS Sensors

Looking to get new wheels and I would like to clone my present TPMS sensor IDs to the new sensors in the new wheels. Looking at this tool and I am wondering if it will do what I want.

This is the right tool but Autel mx-sensors may not always work 100%. Often the car would not be able to determine positions of the sensors and you would end up with dashes on the readout screen. But the car would read the pressures fine otherwise and the warning light will operate as intended.

Why not just go to your local Discount Tires store? They have tool to clone and reset TPMS. Why bother buying this tool as you'll only use it once or twice.

Perhaps because it is still cheaper and you end up with the tool in the end?

Discount Tires reset my TPMS for free. However, I did buy several sets of tires with them in the past. I bet if you ask nicely, they'll do it for free.

I do not have any Discount Tire stores near me. I also plan on putting snows on the OEM wheels and summer tires on the new wheels. So, if I can't clone the sensors, I will need to reprogram the car after I switch wheels every year. I do this with my wife's Sienna and have to go to the dealer to have the TPMS system reset. It's a PITA and would love to be able to do this at home.
