ay

The sub I purchased did not fit, I had to bent the edges for it to fit. I cut it in 1'' sections so it'll bend down.

I had to spliced it and use wire nuts, it's not the cleanest, but it works.

It's not the best sub, but it's definitely better than what was there. smdh.

I still can't believe the crappy speakers from the ML system.

I put some lower grade Focals, not the 1k joints.

Again, this is an upgrade on a budget, I plan to replace the rear doors with some lower end Focals and the dash speakers. I think that would suffice me. I purchased all my stuff from Crutchfield, can't beat them, they include the brackets and the connectors for our cars.

I would be concerned with Ohms. I was under the impression that the factory amplifier is 8 ohms, where most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohms.

I believe if you wire it up in series the 4 ohms DVC it will equal 8 ohms. Someone with more knowledge can chime in. 👍

The high end speakers like the Focals I linked are 2 ohm’s. I plan on getting the same speakers because of the two members who installed it in the GSF had great results and the audio shops they went to recommended.

Heads up, the tweeter adapter bracket in OP's first post are too small.

The adapters are an inch shy, overall, to the mounting points. I have a picture comparing the adapter to the speaker (if i can figure out how to post).

8 inch Kicker 44CWCD84. Another member mention that the deck speaker is 5.6 ohms. I wired it for 8 ohms and I find to be sufficient for my liking, I just got the itch and I just ordered the center dash and the rear speakers. I think 🤔 that would be enough for me.

So your basically changing all the speakers except for the two tweeters in the rear deck?

Crutchfield only has 3 8” free air subwoofers, the others are meant to be installed in an enclosure. Not sure how much that matters.

Yes, that’s correct. I think that will be enough for me.

Crappy corner dash speakers. smdh

Crappy ML rear doors, I replaced them with some kickers 6.5 and the corner dash as well and the difference is significant.

When you can take off the screws on the ML rear door speakers so we can see the magnet on the back side with the cover off.

Wow... If Toyota/Lexus used these sort of speakers for "High-end" ML system, wonder what they used for the base audio? Kellogg's Cornflakes boxes?! I think I have a weekend project waiting for me now. 😊

I'm having a really difficult time trying to get the cover to the center speaker off, but once i can get to it, i'll be replacing that one too.
