Looks like most of the GS series will not longer be able to use Enform after 11/2/22. Lame..... They should at least give people the option to update the network gateway. I bet a 18' gateway will plug right in.....
I wonder how Lexus will handle the remote start option? Maybe they will send a final unlock code to enable the key fob remote start before the system goes offline. Either way, this news made it an easier decision to go with the aftermarket system from 12 Volt Solutions.
It's not just the GS, it's ALL models. I did notice this though:
"What happens if I am involved in a collision or require emergency services on or after November 1, 2022? Safety Connect® will no longer function as of October 31, 2022 at 11:59PM CST. As of that date, Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Emergency Assistance Button and Stolen Vehicle Locator will no longer be available. "
From what year of GS did those features start? I've never heard of any of them.
2015 for the remote, 2010 for safety connect and 2016 for service connect. I would be very surprised if they don't have a retrofit option available, that's a lot of subscription revenue being tossed aside.
That really sucks. I would have lost those features had I still had my 15. I checked with Toyota to see if I was going to lose it on my Highlander but luckily my 2019 is okay.
yeah this is incredibly lame. I have safety connect and remote start on my '15,i use remote start all the time to warm up the engine all the time since its a walk to my parking garage from my place. Guess ill have to plan one getting a remote start in 2 years. Plus I liked having the safety connect just in case

So our 2019s are okay? What are they using for the 2019+ models? LTE? 5G?
that's weak...probably lack of use. Will check out the 12volt remote start as well...
It's due to the 3g network retiring, the 18+ models use 4g and will have no issues. I installed the 12voltSolutions remote start last week, it works great.
The LS had this same fate around 2009 or so when cell tech retired 1g or what ever cell network it was using. I'm too lazy to go search the LS forums, but basically Lexus' solution was to remove the S-O-S button with a blank trim piece. So I'm not counting on Lexus to upgrade my car to newer cell network connectivity.
On-Star went through this service sunset when all the networks switched to digital from analog.
Early gen O-S was analog...no more connectivity, no up fit provided, simply gone.
2010 - 2015 Lexi that had Remote Engine Start (RES) still work from the fob, RES+ with a phone app needed
to have a module replaced when 2G networks went down. Free install, needed to be reregistered. Now that
system is phasing out also.
I've got a bunch of S-video cables...like new condition. Technology marches on.

s video..... I thought that was a big deal when I bought my 1991 27 inch tv!

Hey RGBHV is still easier to use than extending HDMI.....
Sorry my AV is leaking out... 😂
I am going to look into how to retrofit a newer network module. I doubt they changed the car that much between '15 and '18, knowing Toyota...
If they were smart they would have socketed the 3g modem. I know car manufacturers just want to sell new cars, but I really don't get why they don't look at the used car fleet they have sold as reoccurring subscription money. Most people will not buy a 30k vehicle if their existing runs fine, but they'll pay a little more to get an infotainment upgrade or to continue using the car. I'm not saying go full BMW, but I already spent a few hundred upgrading to CarPlay , if Toyota offered a upgrade for my car either in HW or SW I would have took a look at that. Same with keeping the remote start functionality, as im pretty sure ill keep the car longer than 2 years from now, given I dont have any mechanical issues.
