I recently bought a set of Toyota coils for our trusty Tundra (200K).
Price was like $35 per coil. I asked; the seller said these were genuine Toyota coils.
The OE Denso runs around $56 each... These are great coils; I have used them in the past on our Acura TSX.
Upon inspecting the EBAY coils, they appeared identical to the originals, PN, color, etc. I installed them.
The 4.7 V8 ran even smoother and it's a real smoothie as you know...
About 100 miles later, #5 cylinder developed an intermittent misfire.
It is POSSIBLE I did not push the connector on all the way, but I kinda doubt it.
I put one of the originals back in and she's fine.
I emailed the seller but have not received a reply.
Are they fakes? I think I was taken hook, line and sinker.
For critical parts, go dealer. Also... lots of people incorrectly blanket-judge eBay with "never buy from ebay--fake!"
Yes there's a bunch of fake stuff... but mind you... plenty of Lexus dealers maintain eBay accounts and sell parts there. You just buy from a Lexus dealer on eBay that's all.
In the future, you can use epacket tracking USA for tracking your packages. In my opinion, it's a considerable risk to order technical parts online. I would better go to a local store to take a look at the things that I am buying. I just had a bad experience with some injectors that I ordered. Those were for sale, and unfortunately, I got something made of poor quality materials and got many bad reviews on my end. Since then, I have never ordered anything important online , I am too scared for that)))

Piece of mind. These are very expensive cars so why would an owner squibble over a small amount of money?
But the auto parts store has literally the same part in a different box..My Cayenne is more expensive than the GS but I still use Bosch parts and not Porsche because its 4x cheaper for the exact same thing.
I've been burned by cheap E-bay Chinese knock off spark plugs that looked like the real Toyota parts from Japan. They lasted 2 years and around 11,000 miles after my originals ran for 100,000 miles and 15 years. The limp home and christmas tree dashboard was the real kicker.
I found online Toyota/Lexus dealer parts cheaper than going to my local Lexus dealer. The online website of McGeorge Toyota in Richmond, VA has saved me a good bit on genuine Toyota parts. Check them out...I am not affiliated with them.
There are a bunch of counterfeit parts floating out there. I follow this Toyota tech on youtube and he goes over what to look for when buying genuine OEM parts and how to tell counterfeit parts. He didn't go over all the parts like belts (genuine OEM does come in a box or have the cardboard sleeve.)
