Does anyone know how to replace the leather-covered extension panel on the right side of the center console (see picture below) in a 2016 Lexus GS350? It's part no. 55435-30270-F0 - see link for this part: https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...3530270f0.html
I had a cell phone holder attached to that extension panel and, as you can see, it left an indentation that really bothers me. I'd like to replace the entire extension panel, which I can get for $180 or so. It probably just snaps on and off, but I don't know how many other parts I may need to remove in order to get the entire panel out, and I don't know the best way to unsnap/remove the panel. (As you can see, the panel extends underneath the black plastic that is near the glove box, so those parts may also need to be removed.) If anyone can give me step-by-step instructions on how to get this panel out and a new panel in, I would be much appreciative! Thanks.
Is it just as easy to put back on? I'm not familiar with removing panels or re-installing them. Do I need a special tool? And you don't think I need to remove anything toward the front of the panel (the black plastic that is over the panel) in order to get the panel all the way out? Thanks.
No tools required. Open glove box and use your fingers to pry off radio trim, just loosen it you don't need to remove. Then pull side panel up then towards back to remove.
Yes like JDPDATA said, make sure you remove the radio trim first, a plastic part of the side panel clips in behind that panel. Once you remove that radio trim, you just grab the side panel and pull up. To remove the radio trim the best place to start is the bottom corners.
Also if those are pressure marks in the console pad from having something heavy on or pushed against, it might come out with some heat from a hair dryer and messaging it. I'd take it out of the car and try that first to see if it gets better before purchasing the new one, you have nothing to loose. If the plastic is cracked under the padding, that's a different story, you'll know for sure after taking it out.
