Default Center Console Access Panel

Has anyone tried removing It’s about a 4”x4” felt covered panel on the inside bottom of the center arm rest console.Tried removing it today with a nylon panel tool but very stubborn and don’t want to break it. Any advice on how to remove would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have been wondering about this too. I had some chapstick melt in there all over the felt layer. A lot of it was on that panel and I wanted to remove it to be able to clean it better. I tried what you did and was afraid I was going to break something. For those that have removed the whole console, maybe they might know.

I think there is some adhesive holding it down. Why do you want to remove it?

From what I can see there is no adhesive. The corners lift up fairly easily. I was told by a tech at Mark Levinson that there is a wiring harness connection under this panel that could be causing an intermittent no sound problem. He suggested unplugging and plugging it several times to clean the connection, apparently it has resolved the issue before. I have already sent them my amplifier they did a factory stress test and found no faults etc.

I'm assuming your talking about the lower console cover.

Oddly enough the instructions give the impression it has to be removed from the bottom which means you would need to remove the entire armrest for access. Granted removing the armrest isn't hard it looks like 6 bolts and a few clips. I think eddie420 made a guide with pictures however why make an access panel that provides no access?

I would rename this “the pain in the access panel” with no access. You’re right looks like removal is from the under side.
Thanks for your help.

If you remove the shift panel you might be able to reach you had underneath to get to those claw clips.
