Default DTRLs not working initially at start up

My DTRLs no longer come on upon start. They only come on when I engage the gear into Drive. Before and my previous IS DTRLs powered up upon start. Does anyone have or had this issue?

I’ve never had them come on at startup on any of my Toyota or Lexus vehicles. They always come on when I take it out of park. Do you have your parking brake on auto?

I believe this is normal when you have the DRLs in Auto mode and your parking brakes are engaged.

The vehicle has to be out of park for the DRLs to come on. It has been like this on multiple Toyota/Lexus products. Even my UX does this.

Yep... just looked at mine while I was leaving a strip mall, the DRLs did not go on until I slid the lever out of park.

I think DRL only comes on when the parking brake is released and since the GS has auto parking brake, it will not release until u shift out of park. U can try turning off the auto parking brake and see if it makes a difference.

I don't think the DRL comes on until it is taken out of Park.

Yes that is because ur parking brake is automatic and releases when the car is taken out of Park. Try releasing the parking brake manually using the button while the car is still in Park and watch the DRL comes on like MAGIC!!!

Just checked my parking brake and the auto feature is turned off. So that's why mines come on at start up.

That's why it turned on. If your parking brakes was set to Auto, and your parking brakes are enabled, the DRL will not turn on at startup.

Why use the parking brake manually when it can be used automatically?
