2014 GS350 Bluetooth failure
My first forum post. I recently traded my 99 GS300 which I had owned for 14 years for my new-to-me gen 4 2014 GS350, Meteor Blue RWD with less than 45K miles on it. I discovered the the Bluetooth is off (showing "no connect") and the control panel in the menu is grayed out not allowing it to be turned on. An hour of labor at the dealership determined that it's the radio head unit that's at fault. The dealer from whom I purchased the car is willing to pay for the replacement of the head unit but he's understandably choking on the nearly $3000 estimate. This is a Canadian car with navigation and the radio head unit has a number on it - P10638. I have found a US model head unit but the number Is P10642. I can get that one for about $400 but have concerns about compatibility with the rest of the electronics.
Does anyone have any experience with such an issue? What was the resolution? Is it necessary to have a code to unlock the radio head units or are they compatible with other VINs without complex handshakes? Any help is appreciated. I was really looking forward to Bluetooth both for the phone and my tunes.
Thanks for any and all input.

I did not note the front panel Pxxxxx numbers, but I noted the part numbers.
P10642 appears to be 86804-30040, which is not listed in my thread but seems to be a later version of 86130-30B10, which is listed.

Thanks, very helpful. I may take a chance on the eBay unit. I'm reading into your thread a bit but it appears there is no code required to handshake with the car. I'm assuming if the connectors are the same and the faceplate is the same, it should work. I'm guessing main difference may be that the temp will show in Fahrenheit rather than Celsius as it does now. I'm old enough to relate to both so that doesn't matter. I'm also hoping Nav or no-Nav doesn't matter...
Thanks again for the thread info.

I'm about an hour from the US border at Port Huron, MI so often buy parts and accessories online and ship them to save brokerage fees.
