SOS 'Recall'
I was at the dealer yesterday to get my oil changed and they said there was an SOS fix that was needed on my car. Ironically, when I got home that day, a letter from Lexus was in my mailbox describing it. From what I was told, the location finder in the current SOS software (that button above the rear view mirror) was not accurate enough in locating the car in case of an accident, so it is being updated - not sure if it is a hardware or software fix, but I'll learn more today as it is getting fixed. They told me it takes most of the day, so I'm driving around in a new ES loaner.
How's the ES loaner strike you? Earlier thread on this recall btw: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...paign-klg.html

The ES isn't bad. Only drove it a little so far through stop and go traffic. Will give it a better run later. Did do a little burnout from a stop and chirped the tires, but weird having FWD again since I'm used to a RWD car.
Thanks. Only scrolled the first page of reports, so I probably should have searched, lol.

My likes and dislikes of the ES based on the loaner I had - there may be upgrades available that I didn't have so you have to take that into consideration
Likes:
- transmission is smoother and doesn't search for a gear sometimes like my 2015 GS
- nice dash screens, which also has better (updated) navigation and more info on it
- auto high beams
- brighter headlights/fog lights than my GS
- auto braking (came on when I was pulling into my garage)
Dislikes
- FWD
- peppy engine, but not as peppy as my GS even though I drove the ES in Sport mode all the time
- noisy compared to my GS (road noise is much more noticeable)
- no folding mirrors, and they do stick out a lot
- seats are not as comfortable, even though it had lumbar button support
- the front grill... not a fan of Lexus' crazy black grills. They need to take a lesson from Acura and get rid of them or tone them down.
- ugly rear end. It has a trunk extension sticking back.
- the 2 ***** sticking out on the dash in front of the driver. looks cheap, could have made these simple buttons
If it were time to trade in my GS, would I get an ES? No way. I'd look at the 2020 GS or used LS, and test an Audi and Mercedes.
SOS "fixed" so I guess this is going toward an ES review if anyone is interested...
