So, last week my clock starts running fast. It gained about 30 minutes over a 24 hour period. I remember reading other threads here about this, so I knew it was a rare, but known, problem. When I took it in today and told my service advisor it was running fast, he called it a "zombie clock" and he had seen it before. I'd bought an extended warranty for 2014 and my SA knew that, so it took all of 3 minutes for him to call the parts dept. to see if they had one in stock. They did and 75 minutes later I drove away problem fixed. It would have cost $351.79 for the clock, $44.96 for the labor and 29.02 for tax =$425.77 out the door. This and the rain sensing wiper module are the only issues I've had in 4 1/2 years, not too bad in my opinion.
I'm more surprised to hear that the parts dept had the clock in stock. My local dealers' parts dept. never seem to have anything in stock except for air filters. They don't even have the Ultra White touch up paint in stock and I had to drive 1hr to the dealer that had one.
I didn't think they would either, I was thinking they would have to order it. Maybe this is more common than I thought??? I really thought this would've cost more than 425 if I didn't have the warranty and had to pay for it myself.

I think the clock (Part# 83910-30652) retails for $351.79, but can be bought for ~$240.00. To replace the clock shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, at most.
I noticed the Part# 83910-30652 replaces the original clock Part# 83910-30650. Makes ya wonder why!

What I thought...
I wonder if they learned that the original clock (Part# 83910-30650) had a defect that caused some of them to run fast, and corrected it with the replacement clock.
That's good to know because if my clock goes bad it would drive me absolutely up-the-wall-crazy as a wild feline - I'd have to either replace the clock or replace the car!
