Hopefully by the time my lease is up, Lexus will introduce new models and new engines. I am sure I will be back again.

I gotta warn you though although a really fun car the 2019 540 has some serious drivability issues that I found.
Previously I had my gs400 for 17 years, had a 535i 2017 F10 for three years (great car!)
Just about rapped up about 3000 miles on the 540i. The car is great and a lot of fun to throw around. here are my peeves.

Apple play is like a teenager, it works only when it wants and you might have to pair, unpair re-pair it once or twice a day or once a week,
The advantage is you get waze, other than that the F10 Computer was much more programmable and reliable. DVD in Motion is no longer an option.

The Instrument panel now on the 2019 has a White Box with the speed limit. This is also on the Heads UP display. There is no way to turn this off, basically looks like white bird poop on your windshield.

The most annoying experience is driver intervention. No doubt BMW wants you to be safe but this thing is a Nanny mobile not a ultimate driving machine.
Anything over 40MPH You have all these sensors beeping at you that you are drifting out of your lane and taking the turn to fast and just all these different color lights start to pop out on the dash like your in a f16 that just been hit by enemy fire.

None of this was in the 2017 535i, This is all new for this body.

The good news here is that you have sports mode and 2 stage DTC.
You only need to hit those two buttons to make the car drivable again.

Just wanted to share my experience with my 540i so far, stocking these boards, maybe by a Lexus again soon.

Haha the F16 comment is true. On a freeway, all kinds of images start to appear out of no where.
But I actually like the HUD on BMW. The way it projects an image is perfect. I have also had HUD on my GS, and one thing I liked about Lexus's HUD, is that you could move it up or down. I did not see that option on 540i though.

But to each their own. I hope you will enjoy your new car!
This bad boy is lease only. Will never buy a BMW

Good luck and enjoy the new car.

Thank you. I'll still come. After so many years being here, it's like home

@SNiiP3R as a fellow New Yorker, just out of curiosity, is it crazy expensive to fully cover/insure the new BMW 540i on the lease here in the city area?

@AJLex19 I have Geico insurance and it came out a little over a $1,000 for 6 months. A bit higher than the GS.

Also have Geico but I know you must have full coverage for a lease. I own my '13 GS and pay just under $500 every 6 months for liability only - one of the factors that keep me from leasing is how crazy high the quotes were when I was originally shopping here in NYC.

Sad your 2013 GS gone and now 540i. Congrats on your 540i. How it is? Come with M-Sport?

Yes you can adjust the HUD up and down, in the menu somewhere.

Also the AC is not as good as last Gen, doesn't get cold quickly. luckily Bay Area doesn't get that hot, but annoying nonetheless.

Default Also saying goodbyes

Couldn’t wait anymore and switched to a new (‘19) RX 350 F Sport AWD. Like some of the comments above, I hope Lexus comes up with a new GS in 2 or 3 years,

Here she is yesterday at pick up next to her bigger sister. My RX has the rioja leather interior
which is what I usually keep my cars for. Thank you all for the good insight and fun conversation while I had the GS.

On the same boat. Here is a picture of my GS (totaled) and my RX. Haven't modded it yet but have all the parts. Waiting to buy another GS though... I just like the way the car feels. Hopefully there is a newer GS350.

That was a very nice GS that you traded in. Good luck on your new BMW. Those things are definitely fun to drive.

The car is for sale at a used dealer around my way and I'm seriously contemplating it. It really is a beautiful car.

@SNiiP3R - will miss your posts around here bud. I can understand your frustration of the Lexus brand not releasing anything new & exciting in the sports sedan segment. They love to milk money off their existing engines, chassis/body, interior, and tech (or lack thereof) by only making minor tweaks here & there.

Good luck with the Beemer. Hope it treats you well.

GS Owners - unappreciated by Lexus. Seems we are all waiting for something not coming anytime soon.

I am still around gents I finally learned everything about this 5 series. Definitely a nice car to drive, nice features, love the torque and power. However, I feel that GS even though not as quick as my new 540, was a bit more fun to drive. I used to use the paddle shifters in the GS everyday. Now, I don’t use them at all. The 540 has 8 speed tranny, to downshift to the 2nd gear is not as fun anymore when the car is at the 6th gear Also, there is no more presence haha. I get ZERO thumbs up at lights and freeways lol my car looks just like another beemer GS was much more rare and modded one was is even more rare. People were constantly checking her out, asking questions..ect sigh, maybe I should at least get the tints installed
on this beemer

I have been with Lexus for the last 15 years. I have owned 2001 GS300, 2008 GS350 and I have driven my current 2013 GS for almost 7 years. I really wanted to stay with this brand, but I got tired of waiting for Lexus to release something groundbreaking, something fresh.
I did consider the GS-F, but paying so much money for basically the same car that I already had, did not make much sense. So, I have been going back and forth, between the Audi and BMW. It was not easy, but at the end, I have leased the BMW 540i, with twin turbo V6. I cannot say much about this car just yet. It is still very new to me, but so far I like it a lot. The tech in this car is years away. Lexus is seriously lacking in this department.

In any case, I will be stopping by and hopefully someday I will get behind another Lexus.

Oh, and if you see my car in your city, say hi to her for me

Her last pictures,

This is exactly why I'm leaving once my contract is done. The lack of tech, performance and accommodations is just too much to forgive for a "top tier" luxury brand. Even Acura is starting to understand this and they have no where near the resources of Lexus.

Just curious. What kind of tech and accommodations are you looking for? Performance I understand.

Thanks.
