Question Cold Air Intake

Hey everyone, I drive a 2014 GS 350 F-Sport and I've been in the market for a cold air intake. Any suggestions? I've been looking at the K&N Typhoon and the Takeda aFe.

Save your money. CAI does absolutely nothing but create noise in your car. Your F Sport already have CAI from the factory.

This 100%. Our factory CAI is the envy of most vehicles on the road

Umm, OEM is not CAI. Regardless, do NOT get the K&N, that is garbage. Go with the Takeda if you plan to do it.

Are you wanting a different air intake for its looks, or for its sound, or for its [advertised claimed] increase in horsepower?

If you want a different air intake for the manufacturer's advertised claimed increase in horsepower - forget about it because it won't help any.

Is the Non Fsport still a CAI? I will say the only reason I ever looked at them was for the claimed HP gain.

I guess we’re getting the terms confused. Just because the car makes a loud noise doesn’t mean it has a CAI. OEM uses the factory “box” with a sound generator.

Just outta curiosity, what do you love about it? aesthetics? sound? both? I always read it does nothing for performance but I always catch myself about to order one every once in awhile.

The OEM system is pretty much a Cold Air Intake system, it draws cold air straight from the grille and goes through the air filter in a box shape and into the engine. Plus it's well shielded from the engine heat, it's just not fancy looking like the aftermarket ones.

Most aftermarket systems are short rams, they actually draw hot air from the engine bay, even with a heat shield and it's not good for performance. The OEM setup is better for performance and u won't get any performance gain from aftermarket intake alone but they do look good and sound good!

If someone claims to get better performance with aftermarket intake, just do a drag race against a stock GS350 and see if there's any difference.

People will believe all sorts of gimmicks such as the electric supercharger. LOL I once read about some kid who wanted to rerun the air from the AC into the intake because we all know colder air means more power right? hahahahaaa

IIRC, Dodge Challenger Demon actually has something similar, or use AC to cool the intercooler.
