Display Dead after getting new battery (non nav)
2014 lexus gs350 - Last week i got new battery because old one was bad. After installing new battery display does not work and no sound from from radio. I took car to Lexus and they said my radio unit is potentially dead and thats where they would recommend we start. i do not want to spend 3,000.00 and that does not fix the issue. Ive checked all fuses and done the battery drain tip ive seen in other threads here and the issue remains. Whats more frustrating is there is no option to get an aftermarket radio for the car. On the radio unit my climate control and all buttons work including injecting/ejecting cds so dont understand how that could be gone bad. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Did Lexus install the battery for you? It does sound like the radio might be going bad. If it turns out the unit is fried somehow after changing the battery, there are used ones on eBay in good condition for a fair price (typically between $300-$600). And if you're inclined, you could try to install it yourself to save some coin...
Lexus techs aren't going to even try to "fix" the problem. The easiest thing for them to do is just replace the "bad part." Personally, i'd go to a reputable car audio/stereo place that specializes in this stuff and have them mess with it to see if its something fairly straightforward..

Thanks. I think I am gonna buy a used unit online and install myself doesn’t appear too difficult. Does the part number on front my radio have to match exactly with the replacement unit?

Who changed the battery? Did Lexus change the battery? If they did and your unit no longer works then they screwed something up like possibly connecting the battery backwards. If Lexus or a shop changed your battery they should pay for the new audio system or at least hook you up on a great deal, if Lexus did it and refuses any responsibility then call Lexus corporate. Even if it was going bad which is extremely rare, it does not sound right it just totally failed after a new battery was put in. I would re check fuses, connections, etc first.
Are you certain you got the right battery with the terminals in the correct orientation? They make same sized batteries where the terminals are reversed.
I don't know how you could manage to start the car with it hooked up that way, but this seems to be the only logical explanation in my mind.

If you've been getting it serviced at the dealership push for goodwill, it's only a year out of warranty. These systems should last the life of the car. I'd be surprised if they didn't pay for the lot excluding labour.
My 2015 GS350 radio and SD card also broke when my battery died. When trying to start the car with the dead battery, the whole car and infotainment system hysterically flickers. After going to the dealer, will cost about $3500 to replace the radio. This is absurd that this is happening! Have been a lifelong Toyota/Lexus owner and am so disappointed that this is happening for such a common scenario. I'm so scared that the radio will break again when the battery dies again in a few years. So frustrating. Can I get a show of hands this is happening to? Wondering if we can collectively band together and get Lexus to fix this defect.
