Default Brake Pads and Rotors question

Bought a 2015 gs 350 F sport from Lexus in Miami back in November just brought it in for first 5k I section and they said I need new pads (2mm) and Rotors..... The car only had 22k when I bought it. It seems kinda early to replace the rotors. Need a second option from you guys..... Also I see in other posts that everyone put on OEM or Akebono pads, what's your option on the hawks street pads? I'll take recommendations.

Thanks
Chi

Power Stop brakes have been a trending thing lately and seems to have good report. can pick up the whole kit on rockauto for pretty cheap.

It's not unusual for the F Sport to wear out front pads very quickly. I purchased my 2015 F Sport with 15k miles, it needed new front pads at that time.

This. I bought mine at 35k miles and had to swap them out at 42k because the dealer wouldnt let me leave if i didnt because they deemed the car "too dangerous".

I have a base model AWD, and it seems the pads need changing every 20K miles or so. I literally just changed my rotors/pads for the second time this past weekend since owning this car from around 40K miles used (currently at 80K). Previous change was all OEM everything, this time time around I went with Centric rotors with Akebono pads.

I can't comment on the life of Centric/Akebono, however the combination feels a little less "bitey" on the initial pedal touch versus the OEM set (which seemed to be "bitey" and can be "surprising" or "shocking" in traffic). I PREFER the lesser bite, and once you're on the pedal, the braking seems very firm and just as strong as the OEM set. Also might ad that I like going with the Centric/Akebono combo for my other comfortable/luxury DD cars because of the price and performance aspect.

I just had my brakes and rotors replaced 2 weeks ago at 35k miles. I have a RWD F-sport and they said the rotors are made soft and the brake pads material harder. Usually if pads are gone, you might have to replace your rotors. If you see a lip around your outer edge of the rotors, you need to replace them because they are too thin and you cannot machine them because they are also thin.

Pads maybe, but rotors? Unless you're hosing down your rotors while hot, or the wheels have been ridiculously torqued on, or you or the previous owner tracked the car and drove like maniacs, I can't see these rotors wearing so quickly. You need a second opinion my friend.

No...2 piece rotors are lighter but I doubt aluminum makes for good stopping. Maybe for motorbikes and bicycles...

Edit: Looks like there are some aluminum rotors out there... never knew that. It seems I put my foot in my mouth tonight... d-uh.

Like another poster mentioned above I usually do one 2 pairs of pads for every set of rotors I go through unless they are warped or something. I would go get a second opinion. From a non dealership independent toyota specialist.

How many miles do you put on a pair of rotors? I went to toyota for my second opinion and they said the same thing lexus told me and I trust what the toyota dealership says compared to lexus. Toyota also send me a video of my car underbody and they show me suspension, brakes, tires, etc.

About 30k miles, but I replace my pads earlier then most. I dislike long pedal travel on the brakes. I also engine brake a lot more then the average driver. I’m doing 20k for a car that’s aggressive driven, but for a commuter style of driving I’ve also seen 30k plus miles on my cars.

I just did pads and rotors last week at 98k miles. From the service record the previous owner did pads twice so that's about 32k on a set of pads. Not sure on the rotors, but I put 26k on the car last year alone and ended up warping the rears. I decided to go the power stop route and do not regret it yet.
