Default MPC Remote start kit

Trying to buy one but what's the difference between the $150 vs $190?

$150
https://www.amazon.com/MPC-Complete-Plug-n-Play-Activated-2013-2017/dp/B07QM19KDF/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=mpc+lexus&qid=1558969053&s=gateway&sr=8-1 https://www.amazon.com/MPC-Complete-Plug-n-Play-Activated-2013-2017/dp/B07QM19KDF/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=mpc+lexus&qid=1558969053&s=gateway&sr=8-1

and the $190:

I been wanting to buy these to but I don’t like that when you get in the car it shuts off and you still have to restart it. Seems pointless to me. But I am wondering what the difference is.

I don't think it's an issue. I believe that's how it's designed to work. The car turns off when a door (or trunk I believe) is open. I believe they do it for safety.

Unfortunately that is how it works on the GS. Even with aftermarket systems. I don't think anyone has found a way to bypass it yet. The car will always shut off when the driver door is opened and you have to restart the car. Not a huge deal if you can spare the 5 seconds it takes to restart the car and are ok with a the extra ignition cycle whenever you want to use the remote start.

I always recommend to perform a search within the main 4GS subforum to do some basic research before performing any mod. More likely than not, someone has already discussed it or completed it before you.

It will help before making a financial or labor intensive mistake. All the best.

I keep hearing the pointless line and I still don't get it. Yes it sucks you have to restart your car but remote starting your car allows you to heat/cool down your ride before you get into it. Yes you have to restart it but your car is now heated or cooled. Thus it is not pointless. #FirstWorldProblems

I agree. I think it's pointless and silly to have the car shut off when you open the door, but you'll have it back up and running again in what, 30 seconds? You won't lose what you just gained by starting it several minutes prior.

Most cars with remote start require another step anyway. For example, in Nissan, you remote start, then unlock and get in. The engine keeps running, but you then have to put your foot on the brake and push the start button again before you can take it out of Park. So you do the same steps with Lexus (and Toyota), but the engine was off for a few seconds.

Yes that’s how it works go on YouTube and check out some videos of it for Toyota it Lexus you will see what I mean. I feel it’s a pointless feature to add.

Agreed! It sucks that it does it but it literally takes no time to restart the car. I don't have it on my GS but I do on my Infiniti and being in FL, the extra 5 minutes of idle with A/C at full blast would totally be worth the extra 5 seconds to restart the car. The car would still be 40 degrees cooler than it would be without remote start when I get in it. My toddler appreciates not being burned by her car seat and my wife appreciates not sweating all of her makeup off just by sitting in the car.

Interested to see how these are rated after a few installs. I just got the renew for my Lexus Enform that will expire next month (I did get 2 years initially on a '17 GS).
I WILL NOT renew this buggy system. Half the time the remote start won't work and the start time is ridiculous when it does work. Looking for a good aftermarket option and hope this is it.

Check out FORTIN evo all , I have it installed in my 17 GS350. A harness can be used (which simplifies the install. Only two wires to connect) or you can choose the cheaper option and splice wires. I chose the harness.

i just looked at the link and realized it’s a fortin evo all, just rebranded packaging . It works well. Also had it in my LS460.

One is with no T-harness and the other have the T-harness. I purchased the one with the harness for 13' F-sport, works great. The engine shutoff is normal toyota/lexus security thing. I like honda/acura remote start better. Same as JDR76 explained.
