Default Mirror Housing broken

Even though this is on my 14 RX, I'm wondering if anyone here has had this issue? No one on the RX side is responding to my post about this. I was backing out of the garage and of course I hit the mirror, forcing the housing forward. It has the auto closing mirrors and even with the auto mode off the mirror ends up all the way forward. I have to manually return it to it's normal position each time I start the car. Took the mirror apart today and was not able to repair. Looks like the door panal will have to come off and replace the assembly. Not a happy camper today!

I've taken the mirror apart on my GS. You'll probably have to take it apart to see if thing is broken. If not its probably dislodged and has to be put together correctly.

The issue is with the base part of the mirror, so you have to take the door panel off disconnect the wire and remove 3 bolts. Once you take the mirror off you remove the gasket under the base and it exposes the screws attaching the base to the upper part. Then you can take the base apart from the upper part and see if anything is broken. If not put it back together correctly. Maybe the motor is off the mounting from the base, spinning it incorrectly.

It's spinning a full 180 from the closed position which it's obviously not supposed to do. Argh,I hate taking off door panels. Funny thing, it didn't even scratch the housing.

Spoke to dealer about it and he said they don't even repair them anymore. They'll just order a new assembly and fortunately my insurance will cover the repair. The part even comes pre painted from Lexus parts. Not a cheap fix with folding and BSM.
