I think it does. In auto my headlights come on in the garage even when it's bright and sunny out. Then they turn off as soon as I pull out from the garage. Sometimes they go on when I stop underneath an overpass too.

The wear is negegible, the HID systems are designed with this intermittent on/off in mind. Now, having the HID system cycle on/off 25 times a day for years will have an adverse effect.

I’m starting to think my battery might be the culprit of this flickering problem. The left headlight was inconsistently flickering during night drives for the past couple weeks. For the first time I just noticed my right headlight was doing the same, I haven’t seen the two headlights do it at the same time yet. I wonder if the battery is the original battery from 2013 and if voltage is dropping below the required levels it maybe a telltale sign I need a new battery to be installed.

You need to have your battery load tested by a reliable battery store. If your battery is the original from 2012/2013 you are definitely on 'borrowed time', and I'd replace it without even getting it load tested.

I got a new Interstate battery installed yesterday. Went to National Tire & Battery yesterday morning, they ran a test and it cameback only showing 387 CCA out of 600. Battery was Lexus Panasonic, which I think may have been the original that came with the car. Hopefully that battery caused the inconsistent flickering I was starting to notice here and there.

Smart man getting your six year old OE battery load tested using professional test equipment at NTB! You likely saved yourself the struggles of becoming stranded by a dead battery at the least opportune time. What if you had gotten another few weeks or months out of that old battery - now you have piece-of-mind knowing you've got a new, fresh battery that won't strand you.

I bet NTB applied parallel voltage to your car's electrical system while they replaced your battery so the memories were saved throughout the car...

You are correct BC. They did mention a memory saving strategy.

Update. So it’s been about 2 weeks since I installed a fresh battery in my 4GS. I haven’t seen any more flickering from the headlights since. I think the problem is solved.
