Default Trim Level Question

I was browsing car gurus and noticed certain trim levels in the F-Sport Trim come with HUD and some that do not. What is that trim called with the HUD? How is that feature and is it worth getting? I''ll be looking at 2015-2016 GS350 F-sport's probably in the next year. Thanks in advance..

HUD is a stand-alone option on cars with or without the F-Sport package.

The Heads-up Display is a standalone individual option, not part of an optional package. The Heads-up Display option does not have a designated identification code or number that I'm aware of. Lexus shows the Heads-up Display on the MSRP window sticker as 'Heads-up Display'.

Like others have said, it is a stand alone option, no specific trim package, you will have to look at pics of the interior/dash to see if a GS has it, it likely won't even be listed that it has it where you immediately see it. I looked at hundreds of used GS's online and only saw 1 with HUD, it was more rare then hybrids or Lux editions so you are going to have a tough time finding one with HUD as hardly anyone chose it. Is it really that important? You may be overlooking or skipping some great cars and great deals just to find one with HUD.

The HUD is worth every penny. @peasodos and myself bought cars that did not have the HUD. And we went to great lengths to retrofit it into our cars (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-retrofit.html). Once you get a HUD, it makes driving less distracting since you don't have to take your eyes away from the road to look at the gauge cluster. Just my two cents though.

You made a few posts about not liking the car... how about make a thread and let us know what the issues are? Would be interested in hearing it!

Thanks Udel and others.. It really isn't that important but it would be nice to have it. I've never had a HUD before. My Genesis Was fully loaded. Everything except HUD but it didn't bother me one bit.. Its certainly not a deal breaker.

F-Sport with HUD will be north of $60-61K new.

Finding one use based on price will be hard to do.

The Lexus code for Color Heads Up Display on GS's is "GF".
Previous posters are correct that is it is not included in any
trim level but you will only find that they built it into either
F-Sport or Luxury level cars, N/A in Base package cars.

That is good it is not a dealbreaker for you because you are going to have a really tough time locating one with it and you will likely be overlooking a bunch of great cars/deals if HUD was a must have. It is just too rare of a option to realistically expect to find it along with everything else you want/color combo, and a good deal. For me it would have been interesting, the one I saw with it(wish I still had the link) I remember was somewhat what I wanted but I think it still had too many miles and not all the options I wanted. I kind of saw it the same way as the night vision, kind of cool but just so rare I would never have it as a deal breaker or a must have.

I have the HUD and I do use it. It's a "nice to have" but not "need to have" feature. If it came with the car, great. If not, oh wellie!

On the 2016+ F-Sports with the digital gauges, the speedometer moves from the right side of the cluster to the very center. The only times I feel like it'd be nice to have the HUD is when I'm cruising with one hand at the 12 o'clock position as the speed is then completely blocked. Food for thought.

Do all 2016+ F-sports have the digital gauges?
