Default New Owner / DIY'er Question

Hello everyone, new the the site and forum and am curious on your thoughts regarding maintenance. We recently purchased a 2013 GS 350 from a non-Lexus dealer. I have reviewed the service history (Lexus website and carfax) on my car and I do not see anything done recently to my GS. My question is should I go ahead and replace the oil, spark plugs, all filters, and brakes and rotors so that I know that it has been done?

How many miles on her?
Are you having any problems/symptoms?
Any codes?

Replacing the oil and filter should be easy if there are no records. Not even a sticky in the windshield? Then, the rest of it is inspection type items. You can visually inspect engine air and cabin air filters. Spark plugs are long life and under 100,000 miles I wouldn't bother. Brake and rotors are also visually inspected.

I made a table out of the 2013 Maintenance Schedule.
That will guide what might be needed.

If you don't have service records of any kind, oil and filter is inexpensive and will provide piece of mind.
Air filters you can inspect, both engine and cabin.
Brakes you can inspect.
Spark plugs are fairly easy to inspect too: pull one out and have a look.

I bought mine at about 70k, just ticked over 80k.
The front pads needed replacing at the beginning of the summer, but that's all that's needed attention so far.

Thanks for responding..... I have not pulled the codes, will do that today. As far as miles, it has 80000 on it. It does have a oil sticker, but I was thinking that they may not have replaced it with 0w20. As far as symptoms, nothing at all, just wanting to get it started on the right foot.

Congrats on your new car! I've bought cars from individuals vs the dealer in the past and regardless of what I was told (or saw on any window sticker), I would replace the oil, engine and cabin filters, and wiper blades. If there's no noise from the brakes, and visually they look good, I typically waited to see what the dealer/repair shop told me for remaining life before I did anything. And, at 80K miles on the GS there's not much else to worry about at this point.

Enjoy your new car and welcome to the forum!
