Default Test drive tomorrow...

My '09 Acura TL SH-AWD has about 175k miles, but still runs strong and and is quite agile. But, I have been salivating over the current generation GS350 F Sport. There's a Lexus dealership about an hours drive from my home, that I plan on visiting this weekend. The car is a '14 w/approx. 21k miles. Has the Navigation & Cold Weather packages, along with Park Assist and Power Folding mirrors. They have the car listed at around $32k. So, depending what the offer me in terms of a trade in for my car (actually trading my wifes '08 TSX. She'll get the TL if I get the GS), I hope to swing a deal. My issue is that we owe more on the TSX than what it's probably worth. Although, this past June, while trying to make a deal on an RDX, Acura made an offer that would have satisfied the loan. We owe less now, so I'm hoping that Lexus can do the same. I've only test driven an IS250, and that was about 6 years ago. Looking forward to getting behind the wheel of this GS.

Not sure how much it helps but I traded my 2007 tsx 6mt with 129k 2 years ago and was given 7800.

That does help, thank you. Well, I made it down yesterday to look at and drive the car. I have to say, I am very impressed and absolutely love the car!! Looked it over, when I first got there before the salesman came out, and it looks like all factory paint. So, apparently no bodywork. There were just some light scratches. Salesman started off by saying he "thought" they could offer between $800-$1500 for my wifes TSX ('08 w/150k miles). Told him Acura offered $4000 just a few months ago. Long story short, the sales manager came out and offered $4100. Unfortunately, we still owe on the car, and that would leave us with just $1k to use as a down payment. Made an offer using that, but we were unable to complete a deal. Still holding out hope that they are willing to come back with a counter offer and work from there. In the meantime, I will continue looking for another GS. After 6 years (and 120k miles) of driving my '09 TL SH-AWD, which I love, I really want a GS350 F Sport. Now, I can see why you all love your cars!!!

2008 Acura TSX with 150k miles and you still owe money on the car? Maybe its not a good time to buy another car until that one is paid off?

Thanks for the sound financial advice. Whether I use $3000 of my own money to pay off my car, or add that amount to the down payment really doesn't much to me. It should all balance out.

I completely understand your point, however were you planning to put more money down on top? The fact that you still owe money on the car and using that as a trade in significantly hinders your down payment on the next car. The concern is buying a car (not leasing) with just a $1000 down payment overall. By the way, I loved the generation of the 04-08 TSX before it changed the year after...
