Default GS300 coming in 2018

Lexus is changing the 350 to 300 with an increase in horse power from 200T and ditching both 200/350 models. Post your comments.

Default Why fake?

The 2018 GS will not be the all-new design most of us wish to happen, but its supposed to be the current model with a few enhancement, as described in a few reliable automotive sources. The refreshed NX gets its 200t name change to NX 300, with the same tech specs in general.

I thought it was just a name change with same HP out of the turbo.

would be nice for next generation to have a GS400 with the LS motor.

No. The GS200t is being renamed the GS300 with no change in output.

GS350 continues without changes.

Lexus will be changing ALL models to only increments of hundreds. ie.) only 2,3,4, and 500's they are eliminating the x50 from the names. This is confirmed by my Lexus factory rep for my dealership. so the GS will indeed be called the GS200t and the GS300 ( in place of the 350).

you sure they aren't full of crap. http://pressroom.lexus.com/lexus/rel...8+lexus+gs.htm lexus announced it themselves
A sedan that offers both luxury and sporty handling, the Lexus GS has three distinct renditions—the GS 300 (formerly the GS 200t), GS 350 and GS 450h.
are they moving away from x50? not sure yet but they are moving away from actual displacement and moving towards more virtual engine designations with the removal of all "t" designations indicating a turbo. but looking at the lc500h looks like the "h" will remain

I'll also believe it when they stop using that same 10+ year old engine

well I sometimes wonder how those reps even got those jobs in the first place lol. I work AT the dealer, so once I catch sight of any of the other 2018 models touching down, I will be sure to update here.

the better question is does the GS have a future? why would they bother with this change if it didn't? all your reps seem to indicate no but the gs has never had great numbers and still sells more than the rc so I don't see why not. especially with the introduction of the gsf. why introduce a performance model if its already axed. the rc was designed to also be a convertible but that never came due to demand

They changed the 200 name to 300 to make it sound and feel better for that 2.0L engine.

What is that Lexus Enform now complimentary for the first ten years of ownership? That changed from 1 yr to 10 now?

Yep. Lexus Enform Safety Connect is complimentary for the first 10 years, but Enform Remote is still only for 1 year.

That is what I thought too when I saw that, by changing the 200 to 300 they are trying to fool the buyer into thinking there is a 3.0 6 cylinder in the car instead of a little 4 cylinder. That is pathetic. They never should have put a 4cyl in the GS, sales have plummeted since they did it. Nobody is buying the overpriced hybrid either, they should have kept the V8 option which would have sold much better. If you are going to put a 300 or higher on the back then put a 6 cylinder in it, if you are going to put a 400 or higher on it then put a V8 in it.

They are probably doing what Bmw does 528 now has a 4 cylinder turbo charged engine compared to the older years which had inline 6 cylinder engines.
