I see you post over on AGO Forums.. Glad to see another detail enthusiast.
Enthusiast is such a strong word. I'm afraid I'm not that dedicated to the effort... I prefer hobbyist.
Been an AGO follower since the 90's (or was that autopia?) but getting a little more involved since I got my GS. Great website for info on products and techniques. Everyone's on the multi-step band wagon, not me. Prior to 2018, this was all I used:
... and I waxed it all by hand, once a year. My 2002 Sequoia's paint is still glossy and the clear coat is intact.
I have considered ceramic coating in the past but my current regimen works so well that I’ve been able to resist the temptation of Ceramic products.
The Sonax Polymer Net Shield (PNS) is a really top notch paint/sealant that just works really well for me. I top it with Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer (BSD) every other wash, and the hydrophobicity is the very best I’ve ever experienced.
My paint still shines and the Liq Plat does a good job of hiding any imperfections. It’s been 16 months since my last paint correction and visually, I don’t really need to do it again. But there’s a little voice In my head telling me “Protect the paint, protect the paint!”, so here I go...
Washed last weekend and it sat in the garage all week. Just got through the polishing this morning, and will seal the paint with the PNS when I get home this afternoon.
Cheers!
I ceramic coated my car last year myself, lot of prep and work involved, but the results are fantastic. So far about a year and water beads off the car, the car is shiny, less dirt sticks to the car, rain is a much better car wash, and best of all more resistant to scratching. I used to use wax and sealants, but ceramic coating is just on another level.

So it's been about a year for you... what's your maintenance product, have you been using a detailer to "refresh" the coating?
Had the day off today, so I brought my fog light kit to a shop to have them installed in my F-Sport. Bought the kit, which comes with the bezel, fog lamps, wiring, and on/off switch for under $50 on eBay. Swapped out the halogen H11 bulbs that came in the kit for some LED's.
Got the Dyson Car and Boat vacuum for free at work so cleaned out the interior this weekend. Good thing I came across the other thread about sucking up the felt linings in the door handle area hah!
I dropped it off at the dealer this morning for the 12 month service/oil change. They are also replacing my windshield (took a rock) and having their PDR guy come remove a door ding from my front passenger door. I'm rocking a 2020 NX300 for the day.
Got my car back from the dealer. They did a great job.
I've had the car for a year now. I'm only at 7k miles, but I had them to the oil change and service based on 12 months. That was all normal and easy as expected. I had them get the windshield taken care of. I asked them to get the rock chip either filled or replace the windshield if it couldn't be filled, but the glass place was able to fill it. Finally I had them get their PDR guy to come by and remove a very large door ding from my door. Those PDR guys are amazing. It's like it never even happened.
I enjoyed driving the NX around for the day, but was, as always, happy to get back into my GS.
I agree. I love the mango tropical smell of BM. Takes me back to Hawaii every time I use it. This stuff TWISS is noxious. Smells like chemicals, gives me a headache using it and I don't see much of a shine and slickness like BM. Streaks that took some extra elbow grease to get off. I never had that problem with BM. guess I'll reorder another gallon. I do like what did on my chrome rims...looks brand new again. At only $10 a bottle, it was a cheap experiment.
About to try something new. Heard good reviews for this. @chinee have you use this? I ran out of Bead Maker so wanted to try something different.
I did use this a few of times, and thought it was a good product, but for the experience, I'd rather just get a bottle of my favorite inexpensive spray wax, Meg's Ultimate Quik Wax.. or some more Bead Maker. I've found that to get the best out of the TWISS, you've got to let it "cure" for a few hours and buff it again.
I know you're a BIG fan of BM, and there is absolutely no other product on the market right now that is as user-friendly, the smell, glossiness, ease of application and so, so slick! There are others that are more hydrophobic, and just as glossy and shiny, but none apply as easily. Coming from BM, you have to expect that your application experience will be much less satisfying. My priority is hydophobicity, so I like PNS and BSD, but I don't enjoy applying them to my GS. Applying BM to my wife's car is a breeze, as is applying Meg's Ultimate QW to my Sequoia.
