Default Lexus Enform remote start question

Do you have to be within a certain distance of your car for the Enform app to work? I just signed up for the Lexus Enform service today. My wife is at work and hasn't downloaded the app yet. I just tried to start her car for her, but I got a message stating it didn't work. I'm across town from where the car is (approx 4-5 miles away), but I would've figured the car would have started from anywhere.

It should work because it transmits via satellite (which is why it is slow), I would make sure it is properly connected when you are in close proximity of the vehicle.

Sometimes i get the unable message but it still worked.

That said. Have you tested it yet? Like just standing next to it? Once I got it officially signed up (and paid), VIN loaded on the app, everything finally worked.

I think connectivity makes a difference on speed too.

I do not think there is any distance limit, although I've never been more than about a mile away. I do think the car has to be locked and the windows rolled up (including the sun roof).

I used the feature quite a bit during the summer months, but not so much during the last few weeks (as it's cooled down quite a bit here).

I have started my car using the Enform Remote app when I was several miles away. I wanted the car to cool down for 10 minutes before I got there and it worked. Check to see if your status says active or pending.

I did renew the Enform couple weeks ago. Make sure it's set up first which means you should see green light by SOS when you look up. First few tries I was on Wi-Fi and didn't work but worked when I turned off Wi-Fi and was on Cellular signal which doesn't make sense. Now it continues to work in Wi-Fi. I do start the car 25 miles away from where I'm and it worked when my phone was both on Wi-Fi and Cellular signal.

I didn't start my car, but I checked status on it when I was in Bosnia. Worked fine.

Make sure your car is 15 or newer. In addition to the Enform app, you need to download the Lexus Enform Remote app. You can use it to remote start, lock/unlock, and check status of your car.

The Lexus Enform Remote App not to be confused with the Lexus Enform App Suite (that controls your connected apps), big button in the middle says "Start Engine"

This was only thing I regret getting my 14 instead of 15.

It is controlled via satellite so I don't think the distance is an issue. The car does have to be locked and all windows up.

I failed to note its subscription based. 1st year included then there's a not unsubstantial fee to keep it.
