Navigation Screen Not Working
I emailed my advisor at the dealer (Longo Toyota) and she advised that they are aware of the problem, and are instructing customers to simply disconnecting the negative (-) terminal to the battery for 5 SECONDS and reconnect, which should reboot the Nav at engine start-up.
Does anyone know if reconnecting the battery will wipe out all radio presets and/or nav settings?

FROM LEXUS CORPORATE:
Errant data broadcast by our traffic and weather data service provider was not handled as expected by the microcomputer in the vehicle navigation head unit (center display) of 2014-16 model year Lexus vehicles. In some situations, this issue can cause the head unit restart repeatedly, affecting operation of the navigation system (if equipped), audio and climate control features. The data suspected to be the source of the error was corrected last night.
The correction is a forced reset and clearing of the errant data from the system. Disconnecting the vehicle 12V battery for at least 5 minutes and then re-connecting the battery completes this reset.
Lexus owners experiencing these issues should visit their dealer for a complimentary system reset and a confirmation of the system
Thank you for your patience and on-going support.

Seriously, my drive today was not fun at all, practically sleep driving since its so quiet and smooth.. My car ate it yesterday, I thought it was the heat that caused it because that happened to my Acura TL before.. However, What I find odd is how come our CD player won't even read or eject?
dude.... just took my car in today and also got a free wash. I ask the person on the phone is it something I can fix at home they like nah they need to delete some files and reboot it. I tried disconnect the battery and that didn't help. well under the factory warranty it was covered. but if you don't have warranty they might fix it for free even thou it was there fault with the update to begin with but i saw the hand receipt it was about 37 dollar. it took about 15-30minute to fix plus the wash since it was busy your looking at an hour of wait.
It's a programing bug that reacted with the Head Unit of the Radio and that is tied to the GPS and interrupted the who system. Just need to reboot the GPS and is an easy fix. To bad Lexus does not post how to do a hard reboot of the system.
This is a major gaffe and a poor design of their system. A remote satellite update should not be capable of impacting your climate controls! Sure, folks will think "well it's an integrated system, so an update to traffic and weather will clearly affect your climate controls" but that's flawed thinking. The system should be designed to compartmentalize and an error in one area should not bring down the whole system.
At least the vehicle's major safety systems are (hopefully) isolated. Some people noted the concept of self-driving cars and that's right on point. As cars (and many other items we use) become increasingly complex with technology, it is crucial that designs are well thought and consider security, reliability, and redundancy. Without that, widespread failure is inevitable.
A wise person once said, "A complex system that works is inevitably derived from a simple system that works."
