So it been fun while it lasted but I feel like I rather buy something outright rather than leasing the car... I know I am pretty much stuck in the lease but what would be the true value of the car? I can't really find similar cars at dealers for less than $50K unless its CA/Southern State where AWD is unheard of. CarMax offered $39K, which they are completely smoking crack
I have a 2015 with 10K on it. Sorry left that out. I see them on eBay/AutoTrader in mid 40s so I would need to shell out at least $3500 to get out of it, which isn't bad. Better than $10,000+ with CarMax
I've done that also, got a great deal too. My buy out price was cheaper than what they were getting them for at the auction.
so i guess you purchase your car end of the lease for very good deal according to your lease contract, pay the purchase tax, bring the car in trade in for another car, the tax will offset on new car?
$39k trade in price is the best I have seen. So you won't get much more than that. You can sell Privately and may get $3k more at the most, but that's it. Look at what they are selling for used that are not CPO in your area. You will see they are only a few grand more.
I feel the GS doesn't hold its value as well as other Lexus vehicles. Back in Nov 2015 (4 months after I bought it) I went to trade my 13 GS350 for an F sport and was offered 29k for my loaded premium version GS with 26k miles. I was shocked that my car dropped 6k in value in 4 months. Had bought it for 35k plus TTL.

26k miles in 4 months? That kind of mileage alone will have a big impact. Dealers will never give you top dollar on a trade but for that kind of mileage it seems reasonable.
Luxury cars don't hold as much initial value because they were highler profit margin in the first place. The GS hasn't been a huge seller which is further pressuring sales.
I probably didn't get the best deal on my used one but I am sure glad I got it instead of an ES.
