Navigation firmware upgrade?
I have a 13 GS350. I was in my buddy's new GX460 over the weekend and was impressed by the ability to say the entire destination address rather than splitting up the city street and house number. Anyone tried this or asked the dealer about this upgrade? Is it even possible?
Does upgrading the map enable this feature?

Lexus has no history of upgrading the navigation operating system to make to make it functionally better. Lexus wants you to buy a new Lexus. That's right your 3 year old iPhone gets free OS upgrades, but not your 3 year old car.

Lame. From what I see, the system takes a SD card instead of a USB in order to upgrade the POIs. This makes me think the hardware is significantly different. I remember in my 5 series, you could swap out modules for increased connectivity.
Let's throw in some confusion . . .
Mine's a 2014 build GS250 F-Sport in the UK. The satnav has developed a fault where it loses its tracking. I drive along a main highway and it shows go going through farmers' fields around 4 miles away in a random direction.
This fault is known to Lexus UK and their fix is to update the firmware which is being done at the end of this week.
The existing firmware is VA00101D and the upgrade is to VD12103A. The version is displayed by going to Menu- General - Software Update.
From my understanding the update is obtained from Lexus' dealer site and uploaded into a port, maybe the USB. All being done under warranty and should take under an hour.
I hope that this fix works and do not expect additional facilties nor buttons.

What 13-14-15 owners want is for the nav map to be full screen. Lexus will not release an OS upgrade to allow that. As you said Mike, you're just getting a problem fixed, it is not going to have new features. That nav unit is just a computer, running a program, that program could rewritten to include new features(fullscreen nav), Lexus wants you to buy a new car instead.
i wonder if a software developer from xda-developer.com would be able to do something. can this system load a new "OS" like a phone or tablet can? Or perhaps take the existing 2016 system and "port" it over to the 13-14-15 models
That would be awesome. All I want is single phrase address input.
