Before you spend $800, do you have the shim kit with grease?

Really need more information to answer this question.
How many miles are on your brakes?
How many mm remain on the pads front and back?
If this is for front pads and anti-squeal shims only, it is way too much.
If this is for front and back rotors, front and rear pads and AS shims, its a good deal.

New pads are 11-12mm and usually don't need replacing until 2-3MM.

I don't know what that is but no I don't. Honestly I'm not trying to work on my car extensively to resolve this issue. I also live in an apartment complex so it's not like I have a garage or driveway to work on it safely.

I can't confirm how many miles are on the brakes but I had my alignment checked recently and had them take a look at the brakes...which they are said are completely fine and not need to be replaced at this time. The $800 quote I got was only to replace the front brakes as that's where I head the noise. Also the replacement is a downgrade in quality....as I was told the issue is performing brakes... despite me not hearing any other performance vehicle on the road have this issue..

$800 sounds pretty steep to me. I recently paid $475 to have new OEM rotors and pads installed by my local Toyota dealer.

Its very easy to replace brakes and shims on GS. Maybe 2 hours max for someone who has never done it (all 4 corners). I worked on my car when I lived in condo. As far as price, I paid $500 labor on my Porsche for all 4 brakes, rotors, sensors, and emergency brake recalibration

If it helps, I used this video to replace front and rear pads on mine. My front ones were squealing, but I went ahead and replaced with Akebono ceramics on all 4 corners. Depending what tools you have, you can easily do this in an apartment parking lot. I'd say at bare minimum, as long as you have a jack, pliers, and maybe some some pick or small screwdriver. Make sure to do it when it's cooler so your jack doesn't sink in the hot asphalt. Better to have jack stands, but if only doing pads, and if you turn the wheel as needed before jacking, you could get away with just a jack as you don't have to go under the car. Just don't stick you head in the wheel well .

Since it sounds like you'd only replace the front pads (or just the shims), you really only need the first 6 mins of the video. The only thing I'd do different would be, instead of just using a pick like he does at the 5:00 mark and then having to do a caliper spreader, you can use pliers to slowly squeeze the pad towards the caliper to slowly retract the pistons. I think you can even use your thumbs to squeeze/retract the piston. Then the pads just easily pull out.

At timestamp 15:44, he talks about the "grease". I'm assuming the last place that did your brakes applied some, but it can't hurt to verify or apply more. The shiny metal behind the pad is the shims. I don't know which pads or rotors you have, but I stopped getting squeal with Akebono pads and the included shims, and the existing one piece rotor (aftermarket).

Guy didn't even wire brush the caliper slidw areas. A little lube helps too; not too much as it will attract debris. Rookie work.

Get the updated shims as mentioned earlier. They have a black rubberized coating. I'm using rockauto 1 piece Dynamic Friction Rotors and Powerstop Z23 pads. No squealing with the black shims! Spent less than $300 for front rotors and pads all around.
