Default Parking Sensor

Got message yesterday to "check sonar system" Got a Saturday appointment and dealer found bad front bumper sensor. Part ordered and will be replaced under warranty. I have heard other stories where dealer claimed sensor was damaged by a stone and customer paid out of pocket big bucks.

Maybe that other customer was out of warranty?

No not out of warranty. The dealer in question claimed that the sensor was dinged or scratched from stone that was kicked up.

If there's no ding or chip on the paint, then it can't be.

tompass - question for you: are they replacing it under the original 4yr/50k factory warranty or do you have the extended 3yr/100k certification warranty that covers it?

I bought the car as CPO with 3 year 100K coverage. However they may have submitted the claim under the original factory warranty which would still be active.
