So tonight I was parking the car next to the wall infront of my garage like always and an orange error light came on to check BSM system what is that? Although, I turned the car off and on it stayed on I took it for a drive down the street and it went away now everytime i turn the car on its not there anymore. Is there a malfunction with the computer or something? Car has less than 5k miles :/

I would take it into the dealer to make sure everything is working properly. Since your still under warranty just take it. The last thing you want is to rely on it and it doesn't go off when it needs to and you get in a wreck trying to switch lanes. Though you should never solely rely on it to switch lanes, it's a great feature to double confirm that theres no car in your blind spot.

 

I will take it in, I never rely on it I always take a quick peak before changing lanes. I dont know if those are 100% accurate anyways.

 

This whole day the BSM warning light did not come on and when I was next to cars the light was turning on so thats a good sign BUT whenever I turned my signal to change lane it was flashing fast warning me theres a car BUT it was not beeping and I don't recall if it ever beeped or not but I think it did.... Am I overreacting or is it not suppose to beep? The parking sensors function properly and beep as I get closer and the beep doesn't stop once its at the red line.

Anyone with the 15 GS model can confirm if there bsm beeps when they want to change lane?
I don't like taking car to dealer if I'm not 100% sure its a permanent issue.

My 2013 GS doesn't beep. I didn't even know that was a possibility. Mine only lights up if there is a car next to me, and like you said it will flash rapidly if there is a car next to me and I turn on my indicator.

 

I was reading on a different forum someone mentioned that's the BSM warning light can turn on when parking close to a wall. Also, reading further few people claimed it doesn't beep 13/14 models and some claimed the 14+ beeps. So I don't know which is right or wrong. Hopefully someone with a 14/15 can't chime in. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight thinking everything's okay lol

it does beep if im parking or in a small space like going to the bank teller

The BSM on my 2015 does NOT beep even if I turn on my signal. The rear cross traffic alert does, but not the BSM.


The BSM only operates above 10 mph, and the object has to be moving for the indicator to come on. It should not be illuminating when parking next to a wall.

 

Lexus doesn't have a BSM system that beeps during lane changes.

Seems like everything is fine with the BSM on your car now. Just maybe mention at your next service.

Just got a 13 GS450h and the BSM button I can press and it lights up but not on either side mirror, also not working obviously.

 

My light for both of those do not *** on when I press it or do they work after a couple days of working could it be fuse
