Doesn't matter. Glass is a comprehensive claim, "glass coverage" is a separate low/no deductible policy. I have "glass coverage" with no deductible, and when I required OEM glass they had to do it separately as a comprehensive claim and I had to pay my comprehensive deductible ($50). Under my "glass coverage" there wouldn't have been any deductible but I would have had to accept an aftermarket windshield.

When I insured my new GS both Ins. companies I deal with stated it was a new Luxury car so the ONLY deductible available was $1000, including the comprehensive. The premium is reasonable at $580 a year, includes 5 yr. OEM replacement parts with no depreciation for those first 5 years.
When I found a company that had a lower deductible the premium was triple and the coverage not as good

Every company is different, and its different in the US than in Canada I'm sure. My collision deductible is $1,000, but I get discounts from that for every year accident free, so its essentially $500 (the maximum deduction), and my comprehensive/uninsured motorist coverages have a $50 deductible. A lower deductible for comprehensive doesn't do much to the premium, where the collision deductible does.
I haven't had glass coverage forever due to it costing an extra ~$140+ a year. With all the big muddy trucks everywhere in oil country, the ins. companies claimed they were losing $$ on windshield insurance.
When I insured the GS the policy was different because it was a new Luxury car?
So because of the high deductible they include glass. However I had to ask about it else I would have paid the same premium but with no windshield coverage, because it had always been removed prior to insuring the TL.

Okay enlighten me a bit here.. I have a $500 deductible for everything and I do have comprehensive coverage, so if I crack my windshield like that how much do I have to pay out of pocket? If the replacement costs $1700+. How does insurance claims work? Will it go against me and skyrocket my rates?
