Default Well, this didn't take long... UPDATED

Picked my GS up 9 whole days ago… wife took it on a trip to NC and was making her way back home today when I got a phone call around 11… she curbed the wheel in the Chick-fil-A parking lot and got a chunk of tire in the process. She was very upset.

I wasn't super happy but there's nothing I can do about it. It's just a car and these things happen. Fortunately, we sprung for the wheel and tire protection (Platinum + w/cosmetic) package, and from what I've read we shouldn't have any issues. Anyone care to confirm? I was a little concerned about a parking lot curb rash falling under Lexus' definition of "Road Hazard"… but it sounds like guys who have the same package haven't had any issues in similar instances. I'm planning on driving up to the dealership tomorrow to get it checked out.

Not the best pictures, but...

Something similar happened to my last Monday, and when I call the dealer and explain what had happen to me they told me that is was not cover under the road hazard insurance. That if the rim gets bend and the tire pops then going to be cover under that. That if the finish of the rim is just scrape is not cover. All lexus dealers sell different insurance packages lucky for me when I look at mine it said it cover cosmetic damages to the rim. The package I bought is call Platinum Plus with cosmetic damage. I havent drop mine up yet to get fix so I dont know how is going to work, but I'l let you know. Good luck and hopefully the road hazard package work for you, by the way, always say that you hit a pothole not a curve.

So you drive a $60 Lexus and eat fast food?

Did you get the blinker fluid warranty too?

$60? And I thought I got a deal. Well, if you meant $60k, then boy, you need to bargain a little better.

This is exactly the coverage I have. Platinum + with cosmetic coverage. It clearly states that it covers cosmetic damage I'm just unsure whether or not it will cover a curb in a parking lot. It sounds like it may only fall under debris on a public road that shouldn't typically be there. Going by the dealership today and I'll report on my findings. I don't plan on volunteering information on how the damage occurred.

If you paid $60k for your car then I feel very bad for you. It also makes it evident to me that I should disregard your opinion. Thanks for your "contribution" to the thread.

The warranty will cover it.

Even if it's operator error curb rash in a parking lot? This would be great to know.

Where in MD are you located? Hopefully you're outside of Baltimore! My wife and I live in Carroll County.

What's wrong with getting fast food in a Lexus...I've seen plenty of other, more expensive cars (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls-Royce) there when I was getting my food in my GS, especially In N Out. Just as long as you don't eat it in the car
The Platinum Plus warranty is actually quite useful and affordable for what it includes. Maybe you should've looked into it before judging it.

To the OP, yes it covers operator error like curb rash in the parking lot. It covers pretty much anything that happens to the tires and rims. They will probably swap out your tire since it looks like a pretty big gash in the side wall, and repair your rim.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I was very interested when they brought up the Platinum+ warranty... especially being a perfectionist who does everything possible to avoid rashed wheels and door digs. I'm quite certain I'll be getting my money's worth over the next 5 years.

I take my $60K car to the dollar store and cheap mom n pops food places. I buy stuff that are on sale and non branded clothing too cause the car is my priority and that's how I can afford the payments. Yea I don't have lots of $$$ but I never beg anyone at the gas station to fill up my tank.

U might want to try different dealers, it's the service guy that matters, some are nice and are willing to help u out. I've sliced my tire a few months back and my original dealer declined to fix it even though I have the Wheel and Tire Plus warranty, saying that it's not dangerous to drive it and they'll fix it when the tire pops. What kind of idiot is that?! Anywayz, I was about to raise hell but decided to go to another dealer and the service guy replaced the tire with no hassle and nothing out of pocket.
