My GS is at the dealer for passenger seat service bulletin. So the dealer said they would test drive the car and do heavy breaking to replicate the drivers seat moving back/forth.

I'm out of warranty but I hope all it needs is a simple adjustment.
Relaxed was the word given misrakenly by the auto-correct. It was supposed to be "replaced".

If the seat issue is safety related (which the driver's seat track could be deemed to be) and you are not too far out of warranty and have been a good Lexus customer, the Lexus dealership might take care of the repair/replacement at no charge as a one-time goodwill gesture.

Not really a safety issue more of a inconvenience/annoyance. I'm over 4 years and 66k so out of warranty big time. They did the recall for the passenger seat, cost Lexus $1443.32. Passenger seat is solid as a rock.
O well I'll just live with it.

They also washed my car and buffed out a couple scratches I had for free. Also loaned me a 2016 Lexus RX for a day while the other one was in for the warranty. So overall a good dealership experience for me. All this cost me nothing out of pocket.

I hate to bump such an old thread but I recently purchased a 2018 F-Sport and I’ve got the exact same issue with my drivers seat and it’s driving me crazy. When I come to a stop I can often feel the seat move just slightly forward. Then when I accelerate it moves back. This car only has 25k miles on it but it wasn’t a certified Lexus. I purchased it from Carmax so technically it can be returned by April 30th. I just hate that this is ruining my experience with the GS which I had been searching for for months.

I called the Lexus service department today and asked about TSBs and was told there are none for a 2018. Not sure what to do next. Any suggestions? For those who had this fixed, do you know what part numbers were replaced?

Why not take it to Carmax to have them fix?

@DSMinATL - Is the 2018 GS 350 still under the 4 Yr basic warranty?

If your local Lexus dealership's service center [at first] refuses to correct the loose driver seat, let them know in a nice way that their refusal is going to cost the dealership a new Lexus car sale. Ask if the service manager is okay with that...

Keep in mind that your seat issue is an 'interior' problem, not really a service or a mechanical concern like engine work. Body shops usually deal with interior issues like your problem. That said, if all else fails, a good body shop will almost certainly know what is needed to fix it. You can probably guess how many car seats and seat tracks are installed and repaired during various body shop repairs, some having major damage.

From the Carmax site:

"Every car we sell automatically comes with a CarMax limited warranty even if your car is still covered under the manufacturer's warranty. This means your vehicle's major systems, plus hundreds of parts inside and out are covered, including labor. We offer a 90-Day/4,000-Mile (whichever comes first) Limited Warranty. See store for written details."

I’ve thought about that but I don’t think the 90 day warranty would cover this. I would also prefer that a Lexus do this type of work instead of a service center at a place like Carmax.

The history report on the car shows it was first sold new in June 2018 so unfortunately the 4-year warranty is expired. I tried to find a certified one for months and every time one would show up somewhere it was gone before I could see it. I travel for work most weeks which is why this is even more challenging. I just don’t have time during the week to shop for a car or deal with repairs.

I also have a 2007 4Runner and 2022 GX 460 and the seats don’t move at all in either one.

I did end up buying an extended Fidelity warranty from a Toyota dealership last week so there is that. I’m hopeful that maybe they would cover it since it’s an exclusionary policy and I don’t see anything on the exclusion list about interior parts besides wear and tear on the leather/fabric.

I think I’ll take it to the dealership where we bought our GX last year. Maybe they will want to keep me as a repeat customer as you said.

I had the issue on my CPO GS also before and the dealer won't fix it.

I had a similar issue with a Honda Pilot way back and I called the corp office before I got it fixed under warranty.

Not sure if you try calling Lexus corp maybe they will listen and help.

Wow, even with it being a CPO?! That’s what I’m afraid of… guess I have to figure this out before the 30th.

Update: Took it to Lexus service today. After waiting there for over an hour they come to me and state it cannot be reproduced and the movement I’m feeling is normal for any GS. That’s funny because I drive many cars (travel for work 3 weeks a month) and I’ve never felt a seat move when I come to a stop on any vehicle.

While it was there they did their typical multi point inspection and discovered the front brakes are shot. Front pads are ‘less than 2mm’ and the rotors now have a lip around the edge due to them wearing down. The advisor was really surprised that Carmax would sell the car with brakes this bad. What makes it worse is Carmax replaced the two front tires last week and said nothing about the brakes. Now I have to fight Carmax to replace the pads/rotors. Is it normal to go through a set of pads and rotors at 25k miles?

This hasn’t been a great ownership experience so far. I love the GS as it checks all the boxes for what I am looking for. Just wish there were more out there. These are getting more and more difficult to find in good condition.

Depending on how one drives, you can burn through brakes and tires in 25K miles easy.
If driving a lot of highway miles they can last 50K miles.

Sorry about the issues you are going through.
