Default After market HID Bulb replacement

Hi,

Just wonder if anyone replace their HID light bulbs with an after market bulbs, yet?

Since my headlight arent that bright. ;-)

I'm thinking replacing my OEM D2S with a pair of 55 watts D2S w/ 6000K HID bulbs.

Autozone shown OEM D2S only 35 watts and it High/Low beams. Not sure if 55 watts have high/low or not. I would give a try if it would give me better brightness without melting the headlight housing.

Should OEM ballast need replacement too?

If you have replaced those bulbs beofre and love it.

anything you would recommend?

Thanks

I and many others have replaced our OEM HID's with the Utilinon 6K although you may not want to pay the money for it. Also our bulbs are D4S not D2S unless you dont have a 4GS.

So you're running the OEM ballasts?

Hi,

You're right. it was an D4S bulb.

The link didn't say how many watts is the bulb. 35 watts or 55 watts? Also, are they're dual? High/Low beams in one? AutoZone http://www.autozone.com/collision-bo..._167897_18273/

Did you use it with your OEM Ballast or you upgrade it?

I been thru a lots of after market HID set with my other cars. Just weren't sure on 55 watts with the 4GS.

My wife 2G-GS with 6K headlight/Fog light. Damn.. she really light up the street.

Thanks

If 55 watts bright enough, i might not needs the fog lamp set up.

A lot of people have complained here about the lights point downwards too much. Maybe try to adjust them up a bit to get better visibility.

Hi

I will do that too. Just we got used to the 6000K color from ours others cars. Also, its much easier for the eyes.

I just wonder of 2013 GS will take 55 watts bulbs without melting the housing.

Thank you tho.

I have bought osram cbi 5000k bulbs but have yet to install them. I could not figure out how to gain access to the oem bulb to replace them. They seem to be in a hard to reach
area under the hood. I have no prblem changing them in all my 20 cars ive had in the past. Can some explain to me how?

55w bulbs require 55w ballast I presume. The standard OEM ballasts only put out 35w so 55w bulbs won't make any difference (don't quote me though). I suggest raising the headlights a little then seeing how much light goes down the road.

I kept the OEM ballast as there is no reason to change it, I would stick with 35W.
